Assassin's Creed Valhalla's most recent update added the new River Raids game mode for free, and so far, players have been loving them. These exciting new adventures offer a repeatable experience chock full of great rewards, mysteries to discover, and powerful enemies to fight, so there's a lot to love here. Unfortunately, Eivor's new longship can only carry so much, so players will inevitably have to return to Ravensthorpe from time to time in order to offload cargo, upgrade the longship, and give the crew some time to rest. While the River Raids tutorial explains how to do this, players would be forgiven for forgetting after a while.

River Raids are only one part of the already massive Assassin's Creed Valhalla, so it's fully expected that players will want to get back to the main game at some point. Whether that means ravaging the English countryside, exploring Asgard in a drug-fueled dream, or hunting down mysteries, players will need to know how to leave the River Raids game mode.

Thankfully, leaving a river raid is easy, and players don't even have to open their map to do it. First off, players can only leave a River Raid if they are currently in command of their longship, so it's best to wait until after a raid is over and Eivor and the crew are all back at the ship. Once here, hold down on the D-Pad and then use the radial menu to select the settlement icon in the upper left-hand side of the circle. This should end the River Raid and return the player to Ravensthorpe with all of their rewards intact.

On PC, this menu is located by pressing and holding "G", but the icon to return home is in the same spot. After releasing down or "G," the game will prompt players to confirm that they want to end the River Raid. Choosing yes will bring the player to a recap of their rewards and then into a short loading screen leading back to Ravensthorpe. After doing enough River Raids, this will become second nature, but it can be difficult to find right after the information dump in the tutorial explains everything else to the player.

Once back in Ravensthorpe, it's a good idea to check the Jomsviking Hall to see if there are any new recruits the player wants to hire. Exotic Resources obtained while raiding can be used to upgrade the Jomsviking Hall or traded to Vagn for new cosmetics or longship upgrades. Whenever the player is ready, they can talk to Vagn to go on yet another raid, but be careful to pay attention to rising river defenses.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
