Since its release, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has gotten a ton of support from Ubisoft in terms of new content, festivals, and so on. Its first two major DLCs, the Wrath of the Druids and the Siege of Paris, are also out now, meaning there has been a huge gap of information as to what's next. Fans knew that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla would get more “Year 2” DLC, with rumors and speculation filling in that hole. Now, fans know what to expect from now through March.

On December 14, tomorrow as of this writing, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Valhalla will both add new content that connect to one another. In Odyssey, players will take on Kassandra/Alexios as they try to decide what to do with their elongated life; in Valhalla, players will come face to face with Kassandra as Eivor in an epic crossover story. That’s not all, though, as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has confirmed Dawn of Ragnarok will release on March 10, 2021.

In Dawn of Ragnarok, players will return to Assassin's Creed Valhalla’s Norse mythology as Havi. They’ll find themselves in the realm of dwarves, Svartalfheim, as it is invaded by frost and fire giants. Havi is attempting to save his son and will need the dwarves' help to do so. Svartalfheim is one-third the size of England, but it features 35 hours of gameplay. Overall, with all of the new features, enemies, and story, it’s definitely an ambitious approach.

Of course, just because Dawn of Ragnarok is kicking off Year 2 of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s seasonal content, it doesn’t mean fans should expect future expansions to be the same size. It certainly could be, but given that Wrath of the Druids and Siege of Paris are much shorter, it’s not exactly a trendsetter. Ubisoft didn’t mention what comes after March, so fans will just have to wait and see.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has reportedly received a ton of engagement with all of this content, and so it makes sense for Ubi to up the ante a little bit here. But, certainly, there are fans in the franchise who would rather see the next mainline game than a DLC based on mythology. There’s currently a lot of mystery around Assassin’s Creed Infinity, which isn’t even really confirmed to be the next game, but some say it’ll be 2023 before a new game launches. Hopefully, Ubi outlines future plans beyond Dawn of Ragnarok sooner rather than later.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
