Ubisoft is hosting a special contest that will give a few lucky fans the chance to voice an NPC in the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The latest Assassin’s Creed game will finally bring the series to ancient Japan for an open-world samurai adventure starring two unique playable characters. The first is Naoe, a female shinobi who utilizes traditional Assassin’s Creed stealth gameplay to avenge the murder of her family. Meanwhile, real-life historical figure Yasuke will be the second playable character in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, encouraging players to take a more straightforward approach by initiating combat more directly.

Excited gamers have gotten to see plenty of Assassin’s Creed Shadows over the past few months, with June's Ubisoft Forward 2024 livestream giving an extended look at the upcoming title’s gameplay. Assassin’s Creed Shadows is bringing in new and upgraded mechanics like breakable enemy armor that will expose an opponent’s weak spots during a prolonged sword fight, a more strategic parry system, and shadow-based stealth that will allow both Naoe and Yasuke to slip past their enemies and more easily move in for the kill.

Assassin's Creed Shadows is introducing a new Spy Network feature, and it could offer something the franchise's stealth has been sorely missing.

There is a lot to look forward to in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and a handful of players will win the chance to star in the game themselves. Ubisoft recently announced the Assassin's Creed Shadows Dubbing Challenge, a contest being held on TikTok from June 18 to July 2 in which users can submit videos of themselves recording scripted voice lines to the designated Assassin’s Creed TikTok account in their region. There will be seven winners in total, each one dubbing the character in either English, Japanese, French, German, Italian, Castilian Spanish, or Brazilian Portuguese.

The lucky winners of this new contest will get to attend a voice recording session to record their lines for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, where they will be coached through the recording process by professionals like Danny Wallace, the voice actor for Assassin’s Creed mainstay Shaun Hastings. According to the official rules of the contest, the winners will be determined solely by their performance, with Ubisoft making it clear that the number of likes and comments on a given submission will play no role in determining who is chosen.

Ubisoft hasn’t stated when the recording session for the winners of the Assassin’s Creed Shadows Dubbing Challenge will take place, but given that the game itself is set to launch on November 12, it can be assumed that it won’t be too long after the contest is finished. The Assassin’s Creed series has always immersed gamers in worlds inspired by real-life history, and a few fortunate fans will become a part of the legendary series, getting a special behind-the-scenes look into how the game's characters are brought to life.
