Ubisoft is focused on promoting this year's Assassin's Creed Mirage for now, so it's hard to say when more details on Assassin's Creed Red could come to light.
It's unclear when fans will see Assassin's Creed Red in action, but in the meantime, a new rumor has indicated that it could mark the end of an era for the Assassin's Creed franchise. According to Resetera user John Harker, known for their inside information, Assassin's Creed Red will be the last game in the Assassin's Creed series to follow the Origins formula.
The Assassin's Creed games originated as stealth-oriented action games, but Ubisoft decided to take the series in a bold new direction with Assassin's Creed Origins, which transformed Assassin's Creed into a massive open world action-RPG experience. Assassin's Creed Odyssey followed the same blueprint, as did Assassin's Creed Valhalla. While fans should take the claim with a grain of salt, if Harker's information is accurate, it seems future Assassin's Creed games will take on a different shape.
Of course, it's always possible Ubisoft could revisit the open world RPG format in future Assassin's Creed games. After all, Assassin's Creed Mirage is a return to the franchise's stealth roots, so who's to say that a future Assassin's Creed game couldn't harken back to the Assassin's CreedOrigins gameplay formula.
As far as future Assassin's Creed games go, fans of the franchise have a lot to look forward to. There's Assassin's Creed Mirage and Assassin's Creed Red, plus the Assassin's Creed VR game, Assassin's Creed Hexe, the Assassin's Creed Jade mobile game, and the ambitious new Assassin's Creed Infinity experience. Time will tell how all these new Assassin's Creed projects stack up, but the franchise seems to have an incredibly bright future.
