While Assassin's Creed has long since coveted a more stealthy gaming experience than what it offers, most players continue to play the games as warrior-like as they can. Assassin's Creed Valhalla sees the series finally acknowledging this, being based primarily on open combat rather than stealth. Even though Assassin's Creed Origins aims to incorporate stealth, open combat remains the dominant situation across the game's expansive story. While Bayek is one of the most iconic video game archers, he is also a capable warrior.

There are many great Warrior Skills in Assassin's Creed Origins, which players should unlock for a better experience when overwhelmed with enemies and being forced to fight. Some skills are better than others, but most aid the player in some way, whether situationally or overall.

Updated September 27, 2022, by Michael Llewellyn: Thanks to the Ubisoft Forward event announcing more Assassin's Creed games like Assassin's Creed Project Red and 2023's Assassin's Creed: Mirage, the series has renewed interest with fans. Before diving into future entries, players should play the Mythology Trilogy starting with Assassin's Creed: Origins, which was followed by Assassin's Creed: Odyssey and Assassin's Creed: Valhalla. All three games adopted RPG mechanics, and AC Origins remains as deep now as it did when it launched in 2017. Fighting is vital in AC Origins, so leveling up the Warrior Abilities is paramount to being a successful warrior. The Warrior skill tree is geared toward melee, meaning it unlocks special attacks and passive abilities like health regeneration. This list has been updated to include more of the bestabilities in AC Origins that one should unlock.

9 Overpower

AC-Origins-Overpower-1

There is a lot of combat in Assassin's Creed: Origins. Whether taking down enemy strongholds or fighting in the gladiatorial arena, one must get to grips with the combat system to fully master the game. One of the most useful abilities in the game is the Overpower attack.

Overpower is one of the best abilities in Assassin's Creed: Origins for ending a fight. With Bayek's Adrenaline meter full, the game will prompt the player to press R1 and R2 (or RB and RT on Xbox) to take an enemy down with a special attack.

8 Dash Boost

AC Origins Dash Boost

The Dash Boost ability is simple and effective in its execution and one of the best abilities to use in Assassin's Creed: Origins. In addition to the Parry ability, the Dash Boost is one of the best defensive Warrior skills in AC Origins.

Performing a dodge at the perfect time will boost Bayek's damage output in combat. To perform a dodge, press the Square button (X button on the Xbox). Bayek can dodge or roll with this ability, and with good timing, he can appear behind an enemy for extra damage.

7 Overpower Fury

AC Origins Overpower Fury

The Overpower Fury attack is an enhanced version of the original Overpower ability that's unlocked early in the game. It won't become available until later in the game and requires 3 ability points to unlock.

Like the original version, Overpower Fury is one of the best abilities to turn the tide of battle in an instant. The most significant difference is Overpower Fury is it will replenish some of Bayek's health and clear all debuffs and conditions.

6 Regeneration

The Warrior Skill Regeneration on Assassins Creed Origins

Regeneration is an important Warrior Skill in Assassin's Creed Origins and can be obtained early on without spending too many skill points. All the best open-world games have health regeneration, so it's not surprising to see it here.

Regeneration is a Passive ability that allows the player to have their health regenerate during combat. This is very useful for sustainability, especially if the player is taking on multiple enemies and looking to keep their distance. Without this ability, players would not regenerate health while in the combat mode, meaning they'd have to simply abandon a mission if they couldn't take on all the enemies in a given area.

5 Parry

The Warrior Skill Parry in Assassins Creed Origins

Parry is a crucial Assassin's Creed Origins Warrior Skill, especially for players that get into open combat situations a lot. Not only is parrying enemy attacks helpful, but it is a cool combat ability that improves the flow of combat, leading to more immersion and more fun. Parrying is a feature present in all of the best immersive open-world games, so it's great to see it here.

When obtaining the ability, players will be able to Parry an opponent's strikes by hitting Circle/B at the exact time an opponent makes contact with their weapon.

4 Shield Charge

The Warrior Skill Shield Charge in Assassins Creed Origins

Shield Charge is a very useful Warrior Skill that allows the player to run with their shield and bash into an opponent with it, knocking them to the floor and leaving them vulnerable to follow-up attacks. The use of a shield is something that Origins does better than Odyssey and Valhalla.

This is a very overpowered skill and can help the player temporarily incapacitate opponents as a form of crowd control while picking off others, or it can be used to get some much-needed extra damage on hard-to-defeat bosses. It takes a while through the Skill Tree before the player can unlock this, but it is recommended that they do. Shield Charge is one of Assassin's Creed Origins' best skills.

3 Kill Loot

The Warrior Skill Kill Loot in Assassins Creed Origins

Kill Loot is a basic Warrior Skill and a passive, but a crucial one that strangely takes a while through the Skill Tree before being unlockable. Kill Loot gives the player loot for any enemy they kill in open combat and helps one of the best Assassins in the series acquire the wealth to match it.

There is much to loot in Assassin's Creed Origins, so abilities such as this one that help to automate Bayek's looting of enemies can streamline the experience and allow the player to focus on collecting higher-value items.

2 Adrenaline 2

The Warrior Skill Adrenaline 2 in Assassins Creed Origins

Adrenaline 2 takes a while to be unlockable in the Warrior Skill Tree. It also requires Adrenaline 1 to have been unlocked. This ability grants the player a full adrenaline bar when entering combat, which is super useful and gives the player a better chance of succeeding no matter how much the odds are stacked against them.

Adrenaline is a mechanic in Assassin's Creed Origins that gives Bayek stronger attacks, slows down time, and allows him to perform more powerful and quicker moves, dealing massive amounts of damage to higher-leveled enemies. While Adrenaline is not the most historically accurate aspect of Assassin's Creed Origins, it is the core of the game's combat system. Abilities such as Adrenaline 2 are highly useful at improving Bayek's offensive capabilities.

1 Master Warrior

The Warrior Skill Master Warrior in Assassins Creed Origins

Master Warrior is the very last ability in the Warrior Skill Tree but an important one for players to obtain. It grants 1 + additional damage from all melee attacks across all weapons and can be stacked infinitely to help Bayek become one of the strongest Assassin's Creed protagonists.

While other Warrior Skills will be obtained, Bayek will eventually get the Master Warrior ability to increase his damage output - it can continuously be upgraded with one ability point.

Assassin's Creed Origins is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia.
