A very interesting detail about Assassin’s Creed Mirage might have been revealed by an unexpected source - the game’s ESRB rating. The ESRB summary of a video game may once in a while unintentionally disclose a spoiler. This rating’s rundown system is intended to educate customers about a game's content, including any potentially offensive material. However, in certain situations, the ESRB rating could unintentionally expose crucial narrative details or surprises that could ruin a player's enjoyment of the game.WARNING: This article has MASSIVE SPOILERS for Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Assassin's MirageBasim Ibn Ishaq is the intriguing protagonist of the next game in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, Assassin's Creed Mirage. Basim played a significant role in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, serving as a mentor and friend to Eivor. Later during AC Valhalla’s storyline, it is revealed that Basim is also the human reincarnation of Isu Loki, who survived the Great Catastrophe using Yggdrasil, an ancient supercomputer the character used to preserve his consciousness. Basim then tries to betray Eivor but ends up getting trapped inside Yggdrasil's chamber for many centuries until he manages to trick the assassin Layla Hassan into freeing him, replacing her as the protagonist for the modern-day storyline.RELATED: Assassin's Creed Mirage Shows Off 6 Tools Basim Can Use in the GameMany Assassin’s Creed fans consider Basim to be a fascinating and complex character and it seems like he will be adding an another layer to his persona, as evidenced by Assassin's Creed Mirage’s ESRB rating summary. The ESRB synopsis mentions that players can use a variety of weapons in order to murder soldiers, boss characters, and even “fellow assassins.” This is a compelling piece of information as it suggests that Basim might potentially betray his order sometime during the storyline.

This plot point might also suggest a modern-day dispute between Basim and the Assassin Order, as evidenced by the ending of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which strongly implied that Basim might have malicious intent towards the Order, as he insisted on having a “face-to-face talk” with William Miles. William had a conversation with Basim via the Animus, where it was decided that Basim would explore his genetic sequences in the Animus, which will be the plot of Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

It’s worth mentioning that the only other AC game where the protagonist has intentionally killed Assassin members was Assassin's Creed Rogue, where the protagonist Shay was a member of the Templar Order. As such, it will be interesting to see if Basim will indeed kill other members of the Assassin Order, and in what context.

Assassin's Creed Mirage is set to release on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on October 12, 2023.
