Ubisoft has decided to make significant changes to its newest entry into the critically acclaimed Assassin's Creed franchise. This includes major changes to combat and explorations. In an effort to bring back features that the community wants badly, most of the RPG-style mechanics have been made a thing of the past. This means that enemy levels and damage numbers do not matter in Assassin's Creed Mirage.

Use this guide to learn about the best skills you should be getting first in Assassin's Creed Mirage.

However, there are certain enemy types that can deal more damage and are tougher than usual enemies. Although players should not have any problems taking them down when facing them alone, things can take a turn for the worse if smaller and weaker enemies surround them. Thankfully, there are multiple routes to take when facing them, which can help players defeat such enemies quickly, even when they are swarmed.

Best Ways to Take Down Armored Enemies or Brutes

Assassin's Creed Mirage

To understand the methods of taking such formidable opponents down, players must learn how to distinguish them. Older games like Assassin's Creed 3 or Assassin's Creed Rogue had brutes who were stronger than normal enemies and often carried unique weapons like an axe. To take such enemies down, one could not spam attacks and had to break down their defenses first. They appear in story missions, side missions, and even in free roam.

Assassin's Creed Mirage has similar opponents, and the only difference is that they have well-crafted armor to protect their vitals. Brute enemies are basically divided into two types in AC Mirage. One type carries a mace and wears partial armor that fully covers their front, while the other is more formidable, wears a complete set of armor, and uses a greatsword against foes.

Assassin's Creed Mirage: The Master Thief of Anbar Quest Guide

The Master Thief of Anbar is the first quest in Assassin's Creed Mirage, and here is how players can complete it.

While the first type can be taken down quite easily if one knows what to do, the fully armored type is quite difficult to deal with as their armor protects their head and their legs. Hence, players need to exercise proper strategy and caution before dealing with such enemies.

Taking Down Partially Armored Enemies

Assassin's Creed Mirage Notoriety System Explained

Players can meet a fair share of Brutes who wander around Baghdad and in restricted areas once they finish the second mission, called "A New Beginning." However, taking them down is not that difficult since Basim carries tools that aid him in such fights.

The best tool to use against Brutes with partial armor is the throwing knife. While in combat, a well-placed throwing knife to the legs of such brutes can have a temporary crippling effect on them. While they are crippled, they instantly fall to the ground and are vulnerable to one-shot attacks by players. However, this cannot be used against fully armored enemies who are protected by their leg armor.

Moreover, sleeping darts and the skill called Counter Roll can also help players immensely when facing partially armored foes.

Taking Down Fully Armored Enemies

Defeating armored enemies in Assassin's Creed Mirage

Defeating enemies who are fully armored requires strategy and proper tools. Hence, players need to stock up on consumable items as soon as possible and go through story missions to unlock tool upgrades.

Fully armored enemies can be damaged by attacking them at their exposed upper back areas. The first choice when facing such opponents is to avoid combat completely and use the overhauled stealth mechanics to take care of them with ease.

Assassin's Creed Mirage: How to Get the Blowdart

The Blowdart is an essential tool in Assassin's Creed Mirage - here's how to unlock it and use it.

However, using stealth is not everyone's cup of tea, and some players might even be caught while trying to be stealthy in restricted areas. Regardless of a combat scenario or a stealth one, once players receive the blowdart from Abu Jafar Muhammad, sleeping darts are the best tools for taking care of armored enemies while also being quiet.

Enemies who get attacked with sleeping darts can be taken down with one hit as well. However, other enemies can wake them up if they spot them before Basim kills them. This mechanic can be turned off with a blowdart upgrade called Potency or Lethal Dose, one which causes enemies to fall to a deep slumber while the other replaces the sleeping element with poison.

While using sleep darts is the best technique for defeating fully armored enemies, players can run out of sleeping darts quite quickly. In such cases, smoke bombs are extremely useful as swarms of enemies surround them. Upon using smoke bombs, a designated area around Basim is engulfed in smoke, which causes confusion and hesitancy among all types of enemies.

Players should take advantage of such confusion and take down several enemies upon every smoke bomb usage. This includes formidable opponents like the fully armored enemies. Moreover, smoke bombs can be upgraded to be flammable with the "Flammable Smoke" tool upgrade. Although bow and arrows cannot be used in AC Mirage, players can still use their infinite torch tool to set the flammable smoke ablaze and get rid of surrounding enemies in combat.

When players run out of smoke bombs and sleep darts simultaneously, their only two options are to look around their surroundings for bags of red dust. These bags, when hit with a sword or struck with a throwing knife, can cause a similar effect to smoke bombs. However, their area of effect needs to be utilized completely, or one can lose a throwing knife and waste an opportunity to take on a horde of enemies at once.

Final Tips for Combat

Assassin's Creed Mirage Counter Roll Skill

AC Mirage follows a linear offensive combat system, and certain skills can completely change combat difficulty for a price. One particular skill called the Counter Roll can make encounters with fully armored enemies a walk in the park for players in the mid to end-game. This skill allows players to dodge unavoidable attacks by allowing players to doge into them and land on the opposite side of enemies. This exposes the unguarded backs of armored enemies and helps players in maintaining a constant flow of combat.

However, The Counter Roll skill is quite expensive and requires players to invest heavily in the phantom skill tree. Parrying is an important combat mechanic that is incredibly useful to get rid of fodder enemies while players can focus on armored enemies. For players who are not prepared to invest skill points in the phantom tree, locking onto the armored enemies and maneuvering Basim to face their backs while attacking is the best combat strategy against them.

Assassin's Creed Mirage is now available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. It is under development for select iOS platforms.
