With the release of Assassin's Creed Mirage, the AC franchise has been exploring the Hidden Ones for three games now. Players got to their formation with Origins, they are currently experiencing the might of their power in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, and have also witnessed their expansion years with Valhalla. This has given fans a pretty complete picture of the precursors to the Assassin Brotherhood, which leaves Ubisoft with only one more story to tell.

While the Hidden Ones may be explored further in future titles, one of the few stories that still needs to be told is that transition period. Fans may sort of know how the Hidden Ones became the Brotherhood, but they have never really gotten to see it. It sounds like a fascinating period of Assassin's Creed history that deserves to be shown off. Plus, it would be the perfect bookend to this Hidden Ones saga, so hopefully the studio is interested in exploring the idea at some point.

It is Time for the Hidden Ones to Become the Brotherhood

The Hidden Ones are the earliest form of the Assassin Brotherhood, or at least they are right now. They were first introduced in Origins where players got to follow the adventures of their founding members. While they were absent in Odyssey since that took place centuries before their inception, they made their grand return in Valhalla. Players got to see them expand their influence through England alongside Eivor's Raven Clan. And now, Mirage has given players a look into an era where the Hidden Ones were everywhere, which has led to a great experience for fans.

Now that players have seen the Hidden Ones in three distinct eras of their development, it may be time for Ubisoft to explore its last days. In 1090 CE, the organization reorganized itself into the Assassin Brotherhood which fans have come to know over the years. At the same time, the Order of the Ancients also became the Templar Order. These changes resulted in the start of the Assassin-Templar War, which has been the focus of the franchise since it first began.

Not much is known about the exact specifics of this transition period, but what Ubisoft has shared sounds very interesting. Fans do know that Hassan-i Sabbah and the Levantine branch of the Hidden Ones established their own sovereign state from their fortress of Alamut, which appears in Assassin's Creed Mirage. From there, the organization operated openly and seemingly stepped out of the shadows. Public assassinations became common, people were encouraged to stand up to their oppressors, and the assassins became a visible target of their greatest enemy.

That is pretty much all that fans know about this period, which makes it the perfect place for further exploration. The Hidden Ones would not have just decided to change overnight, there had to be some underlying reasons. Exploring Sabbah's story and why he wanted to change the organization forever sounds like an exciting prospect. It is a pivotal moment within the Assassin's Creed mythos, which is why it warrants its own adventure, and it needs to come sooner rather than later.

A game following this period in Assassin'sCreed history would not only be fascinating but could also serve as the perfect finale to the Hidden Ones saga. While Ubisoft could explore other time periods that the Hidden Ones operated in, some fans have been yearning for a return to the classic Assassin-Templar war for a while. If the studio explored this period, then it could give them that while also closing out this chapter for now. It can always return to the Hidden Ones at some point, but this way the saga has a definite endpoint, which many series do not often get.

Assassin's Creed Mirage is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
