Assassin's Creed Mirage took the stage at Ubisoft Forward, with a brand new story trailer teasing Basim's descent into madness and a gameplay trailer to boot. It's the deepest look at Assassin's Creed Mirage so far, helping outline expectations for its role within the franchise.

As many know, Assassin's Creed Mirage explores Basim's past in Baghdad and his entry into the Hidden Ones. Not only is the setting a throwback to AC1, but plenty of features are like a special screen grain. The parkour has been most compared to the Ezio games, with fans getting a trailer or quick look at the game here and there over the past month or two. Now, Ubisoft Forward pulled back the hood on the Hidden One Basim.

For Assassin's Creed Mirage, the Ubisoft Forward presentation began with Basim's seeming introduction to the Tenants, delving into the symbolism of feathers for the Hidden Ones. It also introduced a few masks for Order of the Ancient members, with some questions of the Hidden Ones and "freedom" coming up too. "What does it mean to be free," "what must be sacrificed for that freedom," and "how can you fulfill your destiny if you don't know who you really are" are all major themes for Assassin's Creed Mirage, with the world of Baghdad, his solo pursuits, and more influencing his relationship and understanding of the Creed.

Gameplay was also shown, focused on what takes place after his first assassin meeting, with Basim reporting to his mentor Roshan. He would assassinate someone before taking off, with parkour at the initial start of the gameplay trailer. He would knock things over, quickly run across the city, and more, with the Ezio comparisons ringing through. Various elements of stealth were also shown off, highlighting it as a pillar of the game. Other elements shown off include tools, assassination mechanics, his bird Enkidu, pursuits, and more.

Assassin's Creed Mirage is set to release on October 12, 2023, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
