  • The inclusion of legacy outfits in Assassin's Creed games is not new, but the addition of Ezio's Revelations outfit suggests a return to the series' original spirit and could hint at more connections to previous protagonists.

The upcoming Assassin's Creed Mirage will be getting a special outfit based on Ezio's main robes in Assassin's Creed Revelations. This piece of news, though relatively minor, is just one of many exciting details about Mirage that has been revealed ahead of its October release, further building the hype for the game.

The Assassin's Creed franchise took a sharp turn away from tradition with 2017's Assassin's Creed Origins, but it looks like it might be going back to its roots with Assassin's CreedMirage. The pre-OriginsAssassin's Creed games were centered on mostly urban environments, featuring dense, historic cities packed with NPCs and opportunities for social stealth, with necessitated blending into the crowd and vanishing without a trace. The three Assassin's Creed games centered on Ezio Auditore are arguably the most iconic and beloved entries from this era of the franchise, and it looks like Mirage is taking at least some notes from those games.

Although other Assassin's Creed characters might not appear in Assassin's Creed Mirage, at least one of their famous outfits will. According to a recent Twitter post from AndyReloads, Mirage will feature a version of the black, fur-lined robes that Ezio donned in Assassin's Creed Revelations, the third and final entry in the Ezio trilogy. It's unclear whether this outfit will be unlockable within the base game or available as an in-game purchase.

The inclusion of legacy outfits in Assassin's Creed games is nothing new. Even the older Ezio-centric games allowed players to wear the robes of Altair, and Origins featured outfits from all the previous Assassin's Creed games, for instance. The arrival of the Revelations outfit is particularly fitting, as Assassin's Creed Mirage's setting harkens back to the middle-east locales of Revelations. It also suggests that there may be even more cameos or Easter eggs related to Ezio or other Assassin's Creed protagonists.

Adding Ezio's Revelations outfit could also be another sign that Mirage is reprising the series' original spirit. Although plenty of gamers feel that the recent Assassin's Creed games have been a success, there are long-time fans who long for the more concise, stealth-focused experiences that the older games in the franchise offered. For many, this original formula was perfected with the Ezio trilogy, so paying homage to at least one of these games might be a tongue-in-cheek way of drawing another connection between this game and the past. Assassin's Creed Mirage is launching soon, so players will soon find out exactly how close this game comes to the pre-Origins releases.

Assassin's Creed Mirage launches on October 5 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
