Highlights

  • Players can enhance their stealth experience in Assassin's Creed Mirage by disabling the enemy proximity effect, allowing for a more immersive challenge.
  • The game aims to bring back the stealth-focused elements that were missed in the franchise's recent open-world RPGs, with a shorter main story and a greater emphasis on assassinations.
  • Ubisoft is investing heavily in Assassin's Creed Mirage, even developing a direct port for the iPhone 15 Pro, indicating the company's commitment to expanding the franchise's presence on mobile platforms.

By changing a single option in Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s settings, players can disable enemy proximity trackers and get a much more immersive experience during stealth sections. The new entry in Ubisoft’s classic franchise promised a return to the series' roots, and it seems that Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s shorter main story and focus on stealth gameplay may be key to fulfilling this promise.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage was originally announced back in 2022. It was marketed as a response to long-time fans who missed the most stealth-related elements of the franchise after the last three games, which were open-world RPGs. Starring Valhalla’s Assassin Basim Ibn Ishaq as the protagonist in a story set in Medieval Baghdad, the new game features a smaller world and focuses more on assassinations. So far, the idea seems to be working out, as Assassin’s Creed Mirage is gaining positive reviews.

Ubisoft Has Big Request for Assassin's Creed Mirage Players

Ubisoft makes a big appeal to players waiting to play Assassin's Creed Mirage, which is set to launch this week across all platforms.

However, there’s one way to make Assassin’s Creed Mirage even more immersive for stealth fans. By going into the game’s options, it’s possible to find the Enemy Proximity effect and disable it. This option was originally spotted by a gamer called Bruce_VVayne, who shared two pictures of Mirage, one with Enemy Proximity turned on, and the other with the setting turned off. While the setting is on, it’s possible to see enemies through walls, which facilitates stealth, but may be considered less immersive by some players.

Turning enemy trackers on and off is not the only way Assassin’s Creed Mirage revamps stealth gameplay. Abilities such as the new Assassin Focus will allow players to mark and assassinate several targets in a row, for example. Also, assassinations will always work, stopping a trend that continued between Origins to Valhalla of not automatically assassinating high-level enemies, which frustrated many fans who accused the franchise of ditching stealth elements.

Ubisoft is working hard to set up Assassin’s Creed Mirage to be a hit. The company is betting a lot on this game, and it’s even developing a port of Assassin's Creed Mirage to iPhone 15 Pro. This will be the first time that a mainline game of the franchise has been directly ported to a phone, and it’s set to happen early in 2024. Before now, mobile devices only had specific games like the Assassin’s Creed Chronicles series. The shift to having a stronger presence on mobile was already apparent before this, though, as Ubisoft previously announced that the game codenamed as Assassin’s Creed Jade will be a full-blown AC title set in Ancient China for mobile devices, for example.

Assassin's Creed Mirage releases October 5 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. An iPhone 15 Pro port is slated for early 2024.
