Weapons and tools mean nothing to an assassin if they lack the proper skills required to wield and use them to the best of their capabilities. Hence, Ubisoft introduced a traditional and simple skill tree in the latest addition to its Assassin's Creed franchise, Assassin's Creed Mirage. Unlike previous games like Valhalla and Odyssey, Assassin's Creed Mirage ditches the RPG style and returns to its roots.

The Master Thief of Anbar is the first quest in Assassin's Creed Mirage, and here is how players can complete it.

This means the long campaigns are gone, and completing the main quests takes significantly less time. Hence, a shorter and more concise skill tree suits the game perfectly. The skill chart with major and minor skill nodes is replaced with the traditional top-to-down skill tree with only major nodes. However, skill nodes get more and more expensive as players unlock more. Hence, deciding on important skills early in the game can help players get the most out of their experience.

Choosing skills in Assassin's Creed Mirage is completely dependent on one's play style.

Akin to the Valhalla skill chart, the skill tree introduced in AC Mirage has three segments or skill classes, which are the Phantom, Trickster, and Predator. Each of them is depicted using symbols, which are scorpion for the Phantom, eagle for the Predator, and spider for the Trickster classes. However, players need to understand what these skill tree classes focus on before investing hard-earned skill points without proper preparation.

The upgrades introduced in the skill tree are largely focused on improving the overall gameplay experience instead of increasing certain character statistics.

  • Specifically, the predator skill tree focuses on Basim's combat proficiency and parkour abilities.
  • Similarly, the Trickster skill tree focuses on resource collecting, increasing tool/elixir capacity.
  • Finally, the Predator path focuses on improving the stealth experience and makes it easier to plan approaches by incorporating upgrades for Basim's eagle, Enkidu.

Best Early Phantom Skills

The Phantom skill tree does an amazing job of balancing offensive skills and movement skills into one tree. However, the first skill of the game, called Kick Back, is not really useful in the early game unless players get into lots of altercations near a ledge or on rooftops.

The main attraction in the early game is definitely Breakfall, which significantly reduces damage taken upon falling by making Basim perform a ragdoll just before landing. Right after Breakfall, "Chain Assassination" should be the priority in the Phantom class. This allows players to use throwing knives to eliminate nearby enemies after successfully assassinating one enemy.

Choosing the right difficulty in Assassin's Creed Mirage is essential to having a great and fulfilling gameplay.

However, the Breakfall and Chain Assassination skills need two and three skill points to unlock, respectively. Thankfully, many of these skills are locked behind story missions, which help players conserve more skill points for skills they would actually want in their character.

Investing in the Phantom skill tree can lead to unlocking the Counter Roll skill, which can help players get rid of strong and armored enemies. However, there is a better way of killing armored enemies, and that is by throwing knives on their legs. This makes them fall over and vulnerable to instant kills.

Best Early Trickster Skills

The Trickster class is absolutely essential for players who prefer relying on tools to get the job done quickly and quietly. The first skill costing one skill point, the Auto-Collect skill, is not necessary but is good to have because players may not get the time to loot defeated enemies. However, the Elixir Pocket is an extremely important skill that allows Basim to carry one extra elixir for a mere cost of two skill points.

This allows players to have another health boost ready if they find themselves in a tricky situation. Moreover, the succeeding skill, Knife Recovery, is one of the best skills among all the skill trees. Costing three skill points, the Knife Recovery skill allows players to retrieve knives from the bodies of defeated enemies.

Throwing knives are one of the best ranged weapons in the game and can eliminate most enemies with a well-placed headshot. Hence, being able to recover them from defeated enemies essentially provides players with an infinite supply of throwing knives. If one misses a headshot with a throwing knife and uses two or three knives to defeat an enemy, they will retrieve all their used knives if they hit the target anywhere in their body.

Best Early Predator Skills

Predator Skills focuses heavily on improving the overall stealth mechanics and Enkidu's overall capabilities in the game. Hence, Pathfinder, the first skill of the Predator skill tree, should be regarded as a basic mechanic that saves an incredible amount of time by highlighting keys, chests, and secret pathways into restricted spaces.

Since AC Mirage is heavily based on stealth as its primary mechanic alongside combat, investing in the Enkidu Acuity 1 skill and saving up for its upgrade to 2 can prove extremely helpful for scouting. The Predator skill tree also houses an overpowered skill called "Stealth Recon," which immediately highlights nearby adversaries when Basim crouches.

This can prove to be one of the most useful skills of the game, as contracts and story missions require players to infiltrate heavily guarded locations. Unlike Phantom and Trickster skill classes, the Predator skill tree does not have any skills that are gate-kept by story missions, making it worthwhile to invest in it.

Assassin's Creed Mirage is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S and is currently in the works for selected iOS platforms.
