10 Don’t Upgrade Gear Too Often

Assassin's Creed Mirage features a gear system similar to the more RPG-like entries in the series; however, it is not as important as in those other games. Focusing on stealth and planning, Assassin’s Creed Mirage puts less emphasis on brute force and stat increases.

Assassin's Creed Mirage Review

Despite a few shortcomings, Assassin's Creed Mirage completes its mission of being a love letter to the earliest days of the franchise.

Though special outfits and weapons with bonuses can be earned by completing side-quests, the improvement is slight. Unless players are struggling with a mission, it's not worth it to grind for the best gear. If players do find themselves hitting a difficulty spike, it's easier to just change the difficulty setting or explore to find better gear.

9 Remember To Collect Favor Tokens

Baghdad is a city teeming with life, and Basim can use the merchants, mercenaries, and musicians to his advantage on missions. Mirage introduces Favor tokens, a special currency that can be used to bribe these NPCs into helping such as with Merchants offering lower prices, mercenaries attacking enemies, and musicians distracting guards.

Pickpocketing and contract missions are two ways in which players can collect Favor Tokens. Contracts are more time-consuming, but they also offer some of Mirage's most inventive scenarios so are definitely worth it for players to check out.

8 Don’t Waste Time Upgrading All Tools

Assassin's Creed Mirage Returning Feature

Assassin bureaus across Baghdad allow Basim to unlock and upgrade six different tools: the torch, smoke bombs, noisemakers, blowdarts, throwing knives, and traps. The torch and throwing knives are automatically available early on, but the other four tools require materials and currency to unlock.

Instead of trying to unlock all six tools immediately, players should focus on the ones that complement their playstyle. For a stealthy approach, it’s a good idea to prioritize the smoke bombs, noisemakers, and blowdarts. If aiming for a more aggressive style of play, focus on the throwing knives and traps.

7 Don’t Rush Into Fights

While Basim is equipped with a sword to fight enemies head-on, he is an assassin first and foremost. Assassin's Creed Mirage, like the early games in the series, focuses heavily on stealth as the best way to accomplish missions, and head-to-head combat should be avoided until no longer possible as Basim can be quickly outnumbered and overwhelmed.

Players should plan routes through restricted areas and try to keep track of enemy positions, using distractions, disguises, and blending into the crowd. It’s also a good idea to use Enkidu to identify enemies and their patrol routes.

6 Don’t Forget Enkidu

Assassin's Creed Mirage features a returning feature from previous games in the franchise: a trusty feathered friend. Enkidu, Basim's eagle companion, can be used for recon to identify both enemies and hidden entrances.

Enkidu can be incredibly helpful in Assassin's Creed: Mirage. Here's how players can get the best from Basim's eagle companion.

Before entering a mission zone, players should take some time to fly over the area as Enkidu to mark all the enemies and plan their route. Be aware that marksmen can pose a risk to Enkidu, so take them down early or ensure Enkidu is flying high enough to not be spotted by enemies.

5 Don’t Ignore The Notoriety Level

Notoriety description in Assassin's Creed mirage

Assassin's Creed Mirage's focus on stealth means that, unlike more recent games in the franchise, there are consequences for not staying in the shadows. The more enemies you take down in front of people, the angrier the city will become, increasing the player’s notoriety level which will eventually lead to being hunted by elite enemies.

The only way to reduce the notoriety level is to tear down wanted posters that pop up around Baghdad. Therefore, if players find it difficult to move around the world because they are constantly being hunted, they should start looking for posters.

4 Use Photo Mode

Photo mode can be activated at any time by pressing both thumbsticks on consoles, even while controlling Enkidu, which gives a bird's-eye view of Baghdad. This can help scout out solutions to Enigma puzzles, which often require players to decipher a cryptic drawing to find a specific location.

Photo mode is also a great tool that allows players to capture stunning images of the city and its inhabitants while simultaneously benefiting from its use in a gameplay sense. With photo mode, the possibilities are endless!

3 Don’t Ignore Pickpocketing

Pickpocket description in Assassin's Creed Mirage

Pickpocketing some NPCs in Assassin's Creed Mirage now requires the completion of a quick-time event. Stealing coins and basic items from ordinary citizens of Baghdad is relatively easy, but when trying to steal higher-value items, such as Mysterious Shards or Dervis' Artifacts, the QTE kicks in and can be quite tricky.

The Pickpocket Master skill, which costs four skill points and is located near the end of the Trickster skill tree, significantly expands the QTE window so if players are struggling to successfully pickpocket these higher-value items, it’s recommended to get this skill as soon as possible.

2 Don’t Just Fill The Inventory

Assassin's Creed Mirage Merchant

Assassin's Creed Mirage has no inventory capacity limits, but it's still a good idea to travel light, especially if players want to build up their money reserves. As players loot chests and containers, they will pick up all sorts of random items many of which are not needed for crafting – they'll be automatically designated as trinkets.

Some beautiful romances have blossomed in the Assassin's Creed franchise. Whether it's allies embracing, or enemies turned lovers.

To sell all trinkets in the inventory at once, visit a vendor, tab over to the "sell" page, and hold down the corresponding button to sell all. By regularly selling trinkets players can amass a decent amount of wealth as it all adds up over time.

1 Don’t Ignore Contracts

Assassin's Creed Mirage Contracts Board

Contracts are small, one-off side quests that may seem insignificant, but it’s worth paying attention to them. The rewards players will receive can be useful for crafting, but more importantly, each contract also rewards a Favor Token. Favor Tokens can be used to lower notoriety should players get on the wrong side of the guards, reduce prices at merchants, hire groups to fight or distract guards, and more.

Favor Tokens are relatively rare, so contracts are definitely worth doing. Some contracts in the game offer up interesting little see missions that players are sure to enjoy.
