Details regarding the next Assassin's Creed title, codenamed Kingdom, are being reported following a teaser discovered in The Division 2. The teaser, found on in-game posters within the Potomac Event Center location, depicts an exhibit named "Valhalla" featuring a man holding the Apple of Eden from Assassin's Creed.

Following the dissemination of this teaser, Kotaku is now reporting that its sources have confirmed a Viking-themed Assassin's Creed title planned for 2020. Kotaku's Jason Schreier has admitted knowledge of the next Assassin's Creed for some time now, but has preserved that knowledge over questions regarding when it's appropriate to potentially spoil an announcement. That line was crossed with the discovery of The Division 2's Assassin's Creed teaser and now Schreier cites two anonymous independent sources who have confirmed the next game's Viking theme.

According to the report, Assassin's Creed Kingdom will focus around Vikings, boats, and raiding. The teaser in The Division 2 itself doesn't add much more to the conversation. The Apple of Eden, an orb of power created by the ancient Isu race, doesn't imply much beyond that the game remains in established Assassin's Creed canon.

Another past leak, a piece of concept art from a former Ubisoft employee's personal website, referred to the game as Assassin's Creed Ragnarok.  Perhaps the teaser with the Apple of Eden, which bestows immense power, and the "Ragnarok" label imply a retelling or exploration of Norse mythology. Recent Assassin's Creed titles have done such things with Egyptian and Greek mythology, so it's not too unlikely.

Ubisoft has previously stated that it would pass by 2019 and release the next Assassin's Creed in 2020. This could imply that the next Assassin's Creed, whether it be Kingdom or otherwise, will be made for next-gen consoles. Even if that's true, however, Ubisoft is well-known for creating cross-generation titles where it makes sense. Ubisoft may or may not be ready to share more information later this year.

The next Assassin's Creed has yet to be officially announced and as such has no confirmed release date or supported platforms.
