The next Assassin's Creed game hasn't been officially announced though there are rumors about where it might be set and what it might entail. While some people think the next Assassin's Creed game could be set in Baghdad, at least one fan of the franchise believes a future game should be set in the Old West and has even come up with a special weapon that could be featured.

One weapon that has become iconic in Assassin's Creed games is the hidden blade that is stashed up the main characters' sleeves so that it can pop out for a nice stealthy kill when it's needed. Should a future installment in the series take on the theme of the Old West, this particular fan thinks the trusty blade could be changed and adapted to fit that setting, while still making it both stealthy and easily accessible for the user in a pinch.

Reddit user DeadStormPirate posted illustrations for their idea of the hidden blade that would be revamped for an Old West Assassin's Creed game. Named the "spur blade" this weapon would be stored in a strap fashioned on the inside of a cowboy boot. The illustrations showed that should the weapon be featured in an upcoming Assassin's Creed game, the blade would be stored with it retracted a bit inside the hilt in order to fit on the boot. The blade could then be extended when the Assassin pulled it from its sheath and needed to be used.

The post even explains how the weapon could be wielded in a future Assassin's Creed game. The post said that when legs are pressed firmly together, the trigger is activated and then when calves are flexed in a certain way, the spur blade extends out and then can be wielded.

The post also explained that the blade could be used when the assassin can jump down on his target. The weapon could also be used when doing a roundhouse kick, or even when riding a horse as they dangle off the side of the saddle.

Clearly, the popularity of the Assassin's Creed franchise has left to these kinds of design ideas before, but this particular post was one of the most detailed and in-depth ideas that have been shared in a while. Several other posters explained that they liked the idea, especially when it came to being able to attack someone on horseback or if they were crouched down inside or behind brush. Whether Ubisoft might take the suggested weapon and incorporate it into a future Assassin's Creed game may not be known for quite a while.
