Ubisoft recently announced that Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection was making its way to the Switch next month, February 17. Not only is this a shock, but it’s a big get for the Nintendo Switch. Many still praise and love Ezio’s story, with it being considered by many as the best days of Assassin’s Creed. Of course, it’s curious that Ezio’s games and their conclusion are coming to the Switch when Altair’s game, the very first one, hasn’t yet.
It's not too necessary, but Assassin’s Creed Revelations brings Ezio’s story to an end—drawing a line to the past of the Brotherhood with Altair and to its future with Desmond. Either way, it’s also curious which games are on the Switch and which aren’t. PLEASE NOTE: This article only refers to mainline Assassin’s Creed games.
Every Assassin’s Creed Game on the Switch
One could argue that the Switch may not be able to keep up with the latest games, but Assassin’s Creed 1 makes the most sense. Plus, that argument doesn’t hold up too much when games like The Witcher 3 play pretty well on the Switch. To really double down, it’s also worth noting that AC Odyssey, which is comparable to both Origins and Valhalla graphically and otherwise, is playable on the Switch via the Cloud (if only in Japan). Every Assassin’s Creed Game NOT on the Switch
With that in mind, the likeliest reasons the following Assassin’s Creed games aren’t on the Switch come down to sales, the work involved, the popularity of the particular title, production issues, and/or any combination thereof. The Ezio Collection is incredibly popular, so that one makes sense, and the same could be said of Black Flag. AC3 Remastered was already in development for other platforms when it released, and Odyssey is based in one country.

As such, when and if these games arrive on Switch feels like a coin toss. An Assassin’s Creed 1 remaster or remake would likely release on the Switch, alongside its release on other consoles, when and if that does happen. Unity and Syndicate, however, don’t really need this particular treatment. Obviously, a remaster/remake is not happening for Origins or Valhalla either, but perhaps if fans want these individual titles enough, these games could one day appear on Switch too, if via the Cloud.
