Ubisoft may have accidentally revealed the launch window for the upcoming Assassin's Creed Codename Red. Following its Ubisoft Forward event in 2022, the publisher has noticeably ramped up its efforts in developing more Assassin's Creed projects over the next few years. Among these, Assassin's Creed Codename Red is set to be one of the more intriguing entries to the franchise. Now, it appears fans might not have to wait long to get a glimpse into the game.

During its official announcement, Ubisoft stated that Assassin's Creed Codename Red will take place in feudal Japan, one of the more requested settings for the series. While not many details have been shared about the game since then, one popular rumor suggests that Assassin's Creed Codename Red may feature two main playable characters, one a samurai and the other a shinobi. Although, it's unclear if this will reportedly take the form of two unique narratives or will be a singular interchangeable character. Either way, there's little to confirm the validity of the rumor yet.

Now, another notable detail about the upcoming project has surfaced online. As discovered by the Twitter account "Access The Animus," a LinkedIn post from Ubisoft staffer Arisa Lagunzad mentions that the publisher is looking for a partner in Japan to work on "the biggest blockbuster of 2024." The post has now seemingly been edited to remove any mention of 2024 in its original Japanese text, though its translation still states that Ubisoft is looking for a "sponsoring partner for this title Assassin’s Creed Codename Red for next year." This supports earlier rumors that hinted at a similar release window, even though developer Ubisoft Quebec has yet to offer specifics on the Assassin's Creed title.

However, this isn't the only new intriguing addition to the franchise. The witch-themed Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe is set to be another ambitious entry where it's reportedly going to feature a late 16th/early 17th century Germany during the reign of the Holy Roman Empire. Interestingly, both of these titles will be playable via Assassin's Creed Infinity, a live-service hub for future titles in the series.

Of course, only time will tell what the actual release window will be for Assassin's Creed Codename Red, particularly considering the delays that have plagued numerous AAA projects in recent times. Thankfully, fans would not have to wait much longer to experience the next big sequel to Ubisoft's franchise as a feature-packed Assassin's Creed Mirage gets ready to release in October.

Assassin's Creed Red is currently in development.
