With each new Assassin's Creed game comes a large variety of brand-new weapons that the player can use to eliminate their target, either in a stealthy manner where their enemy will never see them coming or by obliterating them with ruthless power and strength in a matter of seconds.

There are a few weapons, however, that fans have favored a lot more than others thanks to their design, the amount of damage they deal, and their jaw-dropping kill animations which have always been a huge part of the Assassin's Creed games, being able to take down a target in the most satisfying way possible after hunting them across the map.

Of course, every fan of the franchise has their favorite game, character, and setting, but when it comes to the weapons, there are a few that stand out for how unique and downright cool they are to use against the Templars.

10 Spear Of Leonidas

Spear Of Leonidas

The spear of the mighty Leonidas I of Sparta was eventually passed down to Kassandra following his death, effectively replacing the Hidden Blade in Assassin's Creed Odyssey for something slightly bigger that still works just as well at assassinating unsuspecting targets. It was incredibly satisfying to use with the "confirm kill" feature that was first introduced in Odyssey, allowing the player to make quick work of quest targets.

The spear actually became so popular that it also made an appearance in the 2018 mobile game Assassin's Creed Rebellion, and also in the crossover event between Odyssey and Valhalla where it could be obtained from a chest on the Isle of Skye.

9 Phantom Blade

Arno Aiming A Phantom Blade In Assassin's Creed Unity

Assassin's Creed Unity is a game full of highs and lows. To many fans, however, the weapons were certainly one department where the game excelled, with new tools like the Phantom Blade opening up new assassination opportunities that were never possible before.

The Phantom Blade is a simple modification to the original Hidden Blade that adds a mini-crossbow, allowing Arno to pick off his target from a distance. Combine this with the excellent parkour featured in Unity, and it makes for some thrilling missions where players could secure their kill with ease, and vanish before anyone ever saw them.

8 Blowpipe

Blowdart Being Used By Aveline To Take Down Two Guards

The Blowpipe was an incredibly dangerous weapon in both Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation and Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, with the player being able to equip it with either berserk darts or sleep darts to disorientate the enemy.

Both of these result in some hilarious situations where the guards, or even civilians, would start attacking each other randomly or simply just fall to the floor, causing panic and confusion and creating the perfect opening for an assassination. The Blowpipe is an incredibly fun weapon to use. Ubisoft is well aware of how beloved it is by fans since it will actually be making a triumphant comeback in Assassin's Creed Mirage, the latest title in the series.

7 Rope Dart

Connor Hanging An Enemy With The Rope Dart

While both series of games are completely unrelated, the Rope Dart in Assassin's Creed 3 almost felt like players were controlling Scorpion from Mortal Kombat with how they could quickly pull foes toward them for a quick kill, or to use them as a human shield to avoid incoming fire.

Depending on where the player is standing when using the Rope Dart, they could perform some extremely unique assassinations, such as being able to hang multiple enemies from a tree branch in quick succession, which would make handling smaller groups very easy for skilled players.

6 Hookblade

Ezio Tripping An Enemy Up With The Hookblade

Yusuf Tazim gifts Ezio the Hookblade almost as soon as he steps foot in Constantinople in Assassin's Creed Revelations, and not only did this handy little tool make parkour much more seamless and fluid than it had ever been in previous games, but it was also so much fun to use in combat, especially when using the hook and run ability.

When performing this, Ezio would flip an enemy over to leave them vulnerable, allowing him to either go for a quick kill or make a strategic getaway. It also featured some incredibly gruesome animations such as being able to hook onto an enemy's helmet to snap their neck, and it could even steal an enemy's purse, which would force them to make themselves vulnerable by chasing after Ezio.

5 Vlad Tepes's Sword

Vlad Tepes's Sword And Its Stats

If players venture into Vlad the Impaler's Tomb in Assassin's Creed Revelations, they would eventually find the ruthless Templar's very own sword. Not only is the weapon nearly identical to the design of the Kilij, which was Vlad the Impaler's sword of choice in real life, but it also features its very own killing animations that could only be performed with that specific weapon.

Just like the sword's original owner, Ezio would drive the tip of the sword through the skulls of his enemies, hacking and slashing them to pieces in a much more brutal fashion than fans are used to seeing from the usually stoic assassin. While it may not be the stealthiest weapon, there's no denying how cool it was to have such a historic remnant in the player's arsenal, ready for those bloody encounters with the Templars.

4 Tomahawk

Connor Wielding His Tomahawk On The Cover Of Assassin's Creed III

Connor's combat style in Assassin's Creed 3 felt a lot more fluid and fast-paced than the games before it, and this was mainly thanks to the introduction of the Tomahawk, which he used alongside his Hidden Blade, resulting in some incredibly unique and visually stunning killing animations that felt thrilling to pull off.

Being able to obliterate multiple groups in quick succession with the base Tomahawk was already extremely enjoyable, but as the game went on, Connor would also gain access to even more devastating Tomahawks with enhanced damage statistics, making the combat in Assassin's Creed 3 one of the best in the series thanks to this single weapons.

3 Dagger Of Brutus

Ezio Pulling Out The Dagger Of Brutus

Once belonging to Marcus Junius Brutus, and commonly believed to be the weapon he used to assassinate the Roman dictator Julius Caesar, the Dagger of Brutus could be acquired by Ezio in Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, and even just holding it made the player feel like they were a genuine threat to be reckoned with.

Wielding the Dagger of Brutus would immediately lower enemy morale by 20, making them much more prone to make mistakes and weakening their overall resolve, but it was in the killing animations where the weapon truly shined, with Ezio flipping enemies around and spinning behind them to mercilessly strike them down. One of the animations even sees Ezio stabbing the enemy in the chest multiple times, which is reminiscent of the way Julius Caesar was killed.

2 Sword Of Altair

Ezio Standing On The Florence Rooftops With Altair's Sword

The legendary Assassin Altair's very own personal sword can be found in nearly every game in the franchise, with it also being the strongest weapon players can use in Assassin's Creed 2 and Brotherhood. While it can often be very difficult to retrieve, usually requiring the player to complete Assassins Guild Challenges or completing all Fleet Missions in the case of Assassin's Creed Rogue, it is well worth it to have one of the coolest-looking and strongest weapons in the entire franchise equipped to the protagonist's hip.

In the world of Assassin's Creed, assassin apprentices in Rome are granted a sword that closely resembles that of Altair's once they finish training, with it truly being held up as one of the greatest and most admired weapons in the franchise.

1 Hidden Blade

Altair About To Assassinate An Enemy With The Hidden Blade Assassin's Creed

Witnessing Altair unleash the Hidden Blade in the very first Assassin's Creed trailer was truly a defining moment for the series, and arguably one of the biggest reasons people became so infatuated with the first game, eagerly awaiting the chance to wield this small but lethal weapon for themselves when the game was released.

While some games have replaced or modified the Hidden Blade, it always makes an appearance in one way or another, and is truly one of the most iconic weapons of the franchise, and in gaming in general. No weapon makes the player feel more like a true assassin stalking their prey than the Hidden Blade, with it being the go-to for veteran fans of the series.
