An Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag player manages to completely confuse enemy guards by climbing a ladder. The fourth mainline entry in the series, Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag has often been a fan favorite of Ubisoft's historical action franchise for many fans. A lot of this praise does not have anything to do with ladder mechanics and instead fans enjoy the experience of Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag for a multitude of other reasons, including what many find to be an interesting protagonist and impressive naval combat mechanics.

Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag tells the story of Edward Kenway, a Welsh pirate who accidentally finds and kills an assassin. Taking the assassin's clothes, Kenway then becomes mistaken for one of the order, and is quickly embroiled in a classic Assassin's Creed tale against the Templars. For many Ubisoft fans, Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag set a precedent that a lot of its future titles should follow. Its naval combat even proved to be so successful that fans requested Ubisoft develop a fully fledged pirate game.

Something that perhaps Ubisoft shouldn't include in its future titles is the strange ladder exploit one player found in Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag. Reddit user Sea_Mathematician622 was getting pursued by guards in the game when they decided to climb up a ladder towards a tower. The guards then pursued them up the ladder until Sea_Mathematician622 flipped over to the other side of it. This confused the guards, leading to a hilarious moment where one on the other side of the ladder moves up and down before stopping to stare right at their target.

For whatever reason, the guards couldn't figure out how to pursue their target any further, even when he was within their reach. While this may not be a great example of the stealth Assassin's Creed is so well known for, plenty of fans in the comments of Sea_Mathematician622's Reddit post shared their favorite moments with the AI of Black Flag. A lot of players had similar experiences with the guard AI being very easy to exploit, which in part made the game a bit more fun for these players.

Even with it being nearly nine years since the release of Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, it still seems plenty of players are having fun with the title, with some even finding old secrets from the game. Back in July, one modder found some cut dialogue from Black Flag, which gave details on the background of legendary ships.

Assassin's Creed: Black Flag is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
