Highlights

  • Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon is the first new entry in the Armored Core series in over a decade, featuring fast-paced, third-person mecha action and customizable mechs.
  • PC players will need a Windows 10 operating system, a fourth-generation Intel processor or better, 12 GB of RAM, and a DirectX12-compatible graphics card to meet the minimum requirements for Armored Core 6.
  • Ray-tracing in Armored Core 6 requires a graphics card from the RTX 20 series, Radeon RX 6000 series, or better, while playing without ray-tracing only requires a GTX 1060, Radeon RX 590, or better graphics card.

With just over a week to go until the release of Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, Bandai Namco revealed the spec requirements for PC players to meet. In addition, Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon offered two different spec requirements for PC players that either want to use ray-tracing or completely ignore it during gameplay.

As the sixth game in the Armored Core series, Armored Core 6 is the first new entry in over a decade, as its predecessor Armored Core 5 released in early 2012 on the PS3 and Xbox 360. However, despite developer FromSoftware's reputation for slow, methodical combat that defined games such as Elden Ring, Armored Core 6 will have fast-paced, third-person mecha action. In addition, players will be able to customize their mech to suit their play style, and newcomers to the series can jump right in without having played previous entries as the game is independent of its predecessors. With the PC launch right around the corner, players interested in trying Armored Core 6 out will need to see if their own machine can run it.

On Twitter, Armored Core 6 posted the minimum and recommended PC specs for the game. At the bare minimum, PC players will need to have Windows 10, a fourth-generation Intel processor or better, 12 GB of RAM, and a DirectX12-compatible graphics card such as an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 or AMD Radeon RX 480. Plus, Armored Core 6 will require at least 60 GB of storage space, which is slightly more than the PS4 and PS5 versions. The recommended specs bump up the CPU requirements to an Intel Core i5 10400 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 or better.

For ray-tracing to work in the garage area of Armored Core 6, a graphics card from the RTX 20 series, Radeon RX 6000 series, or better will be required. Considering the fact that graphics cards like these can be bought at budget-friendly prices, the specs for playing Armored Core 6 with ray-tracing enabled will not break the bank. For players that want to keep ray tracing turned off, a graphics card such as a GTX 1060, Radeon RX 590, or better will suffice for meeting the recommended specifications.

Bandai Namco stated that the listed PC specs for Armored Core 6 may change in the future. Despite not being a Soulslike game by design, Armored Core 6 looks to offer plenty of replay value for players looking for something new by FromSoftware to play soon.

Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon launches August 25 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
