Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon ushers in a new era for developer FromSoftware's classic series, evolving many of its core gameplay features for a modern audience. While combat, customization, and recovery have all been given a major overhaul, Armored Core 6's story mode offers fans a more traditional experience. Following the completion of the title's fifth and final chapter, FromSoftware fans are likely to expect a moderate level of replayability. The developer is well known for its robust post-game offerings, often featuring a New Game+ mode. Armored Core 6 takes FromSoftware's signature replayability to a whole new level, as its post-game missions and approach to New Game+ offer fans a chance to alter the title's biggest story beats and unlock entirely new endings.

After nearly a decade out of the spotlight, Armored Core 6 introduces a new generation of gamers to one of FromSoftware’s oldest properties. Featuring a wide range of updates, as well as an expansive customization system, Armored Core 6 takes what players loved so much about the series’ classic titles and infuses them with elements from FromSoftware’s more recent offerings. Enemies and boss battles boast a significant spike in difficulty, putting even the most seasoned AC Pilot to the test. However, the title also features new additions, such as Repair Kits and checkpoints, allowing players to test a variety of builds in order to overcome each obstacle.

Armored Core 6's New Game+ Features Exclusive Missions

Armored Core 6 Players Create Gundam Mechs

Fans' initial playthrough of Armored Core 6's story mode should take roughly 20 hours on average, but seeing the first credits roll only marks the beginning of the title's true experience. New Game+ in Armored Core 6 allows fans to complete the campaign a second time, from the first Sortie mission onward. Once engaged in this second playthrough, fans will discover that New Game+ features exclusive missions and unlockable content. These missions, including a new Decision Mission, allow players to take a different path from their original playthrough, with the potential of unlocking a different ending.

In Armored Core 6, New Game+ mode unlocks three new missions, new arena battles, and a range of new Assembly items. The first is an alternative version of the first playthrough's Attack the Dam Complex mission, in which players can refuse to attack. The second, a New Game+ exclusive Decision Mission titled Prevent Corporate Salvage of New Tech, is required to get the title's "Good Ending" on the second playthrough. Finally, the third sees players Defend the Dam Complex, following their refusal in Chapter 1.

New Game++ Takes Replayability to a Whole New Level

Armored Core 6 Secret Ending

While Armored Core 6's New Game+ Mode boasts a moderate amount of additions, the title's New Game++ mode takes Armored Core 6's replay value to a whole new level. Featuring 14 exclusive and alternative missions, New Game++ offers a profound level of replayability just on its own. Armored Core 6's first chapter, alone, features five of these new missions, allowing players ample opportunity to diverge from the path as early as possible. Fans who have already met the requirements for Armored Core 6's first two endings can even challenge themselves to obtain a Secret Ending, exclusively available through certain choices in New Game++. Fans must be on at least their third playthrough to access this ending.

Armored Core 6 is unlike other titles in FromSoftware's current lineup. The title's vehicular gameplay and linear story missions shake off the developers' modern RPG formula. Despite its restricted world, Armored Core 6's New Game+ and New Game++ manage to elevate its replayability above many of FromSoftware's recent offerings, presenting fans with new opportunities to alter its story on each subsequent playthrough. Overcoming Armored Core 6's story mode is no easy task, but fans who rise to the challenge and choose to explore its subsequent playthroughs will find their efforts rewarded with far more content than previously expected.

Armored Core 6 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
