Highlights

  • Players in Armored Core 6 can upload and share builds for specific missions, allowing the community to help each other overcome challenges.
  • Customization is a major focus in Armored Core 6, with players able to choose weathering, texture, and reflective value for their mechs, among other options.
  • This feature will have a huge impact on how each individual player wants to tackle these challenges.

Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon players will be able to upload and share select builds for specific missions, Game ZXC recently learned in an interview with director Masaru Yamamura and producer Yasunori Ogura. Armored Core 6 is not a Soulslike game and may not be as difficult as some of those titles, but it'll still present plenty of challenges for players. Notably, this is something where FromSoftware is hoping to leverage the community.

When asked about the biggest advances in Armored Core 6, Yamamura was quick to point to the customization elements. Previous entries in the Armored Core franchise let players choose basic looks and paint jobs for their mechs, but FromSoftware is now able to "do a lot more textured rendering on these parts." According to Yamamura, players will be able to choose "the type of weathering they have on their mechs, the type of texture, and the reflective value" as a few examples. Customizing a mech is no doubt a core element of the franchise, but sharing those designs and even the builds associated with them is just as important.

While Armored Core 6's primary focus is on the single-player solo campaign, there are online elements that support players' ventures into customization as well. For example, players will be able to apply a unique custom ID to their unique builds and custom appearances, and share that ID online with others. Other players could then download this into their own games, but this isn't just for general enjoyment either. In leveraging the community, Yamamura revealed

"If there's a challenging boss or mission for players, you can even upload a recommended build for that mission, and players will be able to download it as well."

Yamamura feels this will help with some of the water cooler discussion and community elements of Armored Core 6, as players will be able to engage with these systems as they see fit. Armored Core veterans could be sharing builds that help newcomers overcome these challenges, while others may prefer to do it all on their own with their builds and designs. Sharing, downloading, or completely going one's all way are all viable because of this feature.

Armored Core 6 is easily one of the most anticipated games on the horizon. Fans of the franchise have been waiting a decade for a new entry, while Elden Ring, Bloodborne, and the Dark Souls games have since made FromSoftware more of a household name. Armored Core 6 is going to be a melting pot of various FromSoft communities, and it's clear that the studio has taken steps to support players of all experience levels.

Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon releases on August 25 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
