Armored Core 6 is the first time From Software has returned to their mecha action series in a decade. Long time fans of the series can expect all the in depth mecha customization they know and love. The game also incorporates some mechanics and gameplay similarities from the popular Soulsbourne series.

Combat features a new AC Overload mechanic similar to Sekiro's stance breaking. This means players are encouraged to stay on the offensive instead of hanging back to dodge. Players can be staggered just like the enemies and this can quickly end a good run. This guide will explain the basics of staggering and the best weapons to stagger enemies in Armored Core 6.

How to Stagger Enemies

Every enemy will have two meters above their mech/vehicle. The bottom meter is their health while the top one is their stagger meter. Hitting them with strong impact weapons will fill this meter with yellow. When the meter is filled it will flash red, and they will be temporarily stunned. This is an opportunity to strike for direct damage. Players can upgrade their direct damage in OS Tuning. The player's stagger meter is at the bottom center of the HUD above the boost meter. Players can lessen the chances of being staggered by equipping parts with higher armor stability.

Pulse Blade

The pulse blade is unlocked right from the get go and is one of the strongest melee weapons in the game. It is good against enemies with pulse shields and can be charged for a stronger attack. It can quickly shred an enemie's stagger meter, but is also great to use as a follow-up when an enemy is staggered.

Gatling Gun

The Gatling Guns are unlocked for purchase after completing Mission 11: Attack the Watchpoint. They cost 170,000 COAM each and are some of the most useful arm weapons. They may be heavy for some sets of arms but duel wielding is the way to go. The Gatling Guns can be used to keep a steady stream of weapon fire on bosses throughout the game.

Songbirds

The Songbirds grenade launchers are also unlocked for purchase after Mission 11. They cost 182,000 COAM each. The Songbirds fire two grenades in a short volley. Equipping both to the rear shoulders can bring down most standards enemies in a single shot. Use them to quickly stagger many of the bosses as well. They do have high recoil so lighter ACs will have to stop for a moment when firing them.

Zimmerman Shotgun

The Zimmerman Shotgun can be purchased after completing Mission 14: Ocean Crossing during Chapter 2. They cost 115,000 COAM each and are well worth the price. Duel wielding two Zimmermans is valid against most bosses in the game. These long range shotguns only have one shot before a quick reloading sequence. Try any combination of this selection of weapons whenever there is a tough fight.

Armored Core 6 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
