Maxing out the Apple Vision Pro will cost upward of $5,000. This prohibitive figure represents the total price of the most expensive model of Apple's mixed reality headset and one of each of its accessories.

Apple originally announced the Vision Pro in June 2023. The company's long-awaited foray into mixed reality hardware promises to deliver the most premium take on both VR and AR solutions to date. But as tends to be the case with Apple products, that dedication to cutting-edge technology will come at a steep price. Specifically, the gadget's original announcement already came with the revelation that the device would start at $3,500.

Apple Vision Pro Is Now Available For Pre-Orders

Apple's mixed reality headset went up for pre-orders on January 19. The start of its pre-sale period coincided with the individual appearances of the official Vision Pro accessories, of which there are ten, on Apple's website. Their prices range from $19 for an extra USB-C charging cable to $199 for an additional battery or light seal. The official Travel Case for the device will also retail at $199. The Apple Vision Pro releases February 2, though there's always a chance that some pre-orders will start arriving a few days early.

Since even the 256GB model is $300 more expensive than two 1TB variants of the iPhone 15 Pro Max, Apple's mixed reality solution will plausibly only appeal to the most hardcore tech enthusiasts. That notwithstanding, while the total price of the most premium version of the headset and all of its accessories comes out at nearly $5,000, it is unlikely that the typical Vision Pro buyer will feel the need to purchase more than a couple of extras, at most.

For example, the $99 ZEISS Optical Inserts are specifically marketed as a solution for glass wearers, seeing how Apple's mixed reality headset was not designed to accommodate eyewear, unlike the majority of contemporary VR HMDs. Likewise, the device already ships with a battery, Light Seal Cushion, Dual Loop Band, and charging kit; there's no major benefit to owning multiples of any of these accessories aside from the battery.

The only two things that come included in the box but aren't available for purchase separately are the Vision Pro polishing cloth and light cover. The latter does have a more premium alternative in the form of the $199 Light Seal. Since the Vision Pro isn't a device focused on gamers, the chances of it receiving any official gaming accessories in the near future are slim.
