Legendary’s MonsterVerse—their name for the shared world they’ve created for Godzilla, King Kong, and any other Toho monsters they can get their hands on (so far audiences have been treated to Ghidorah, Mechagodzilla, and Mothra amongst others) will soon be seeing a Godzilla TV series in the works coming from them and Apple TV+.

Legendary and Apple just released a teaser image via their Twitter account for the upcoming series and it’s as full of mystery as any of the post-credits sequences in Godzilla or King Kong, the shadowy organization’s secrets still hidden from the greater public.

With Legendary’s MonsterVerse (yes, with a capital V) coming in hot with their successful reboot of the Godzilla franchise with 2014’s Godzilla, retro take on King Kong with Kong: Skull Island, then a series of classic Toho-style monster mashes with all the heavyweights battling it out for the name “King of the Monsters” they’ve been leveling city blocks with their smash hit spins on the classics and fans are roaring for more. The last outing saw the two biggies, Kong and Godzilla, brawling themselves almost to death in a true free for all match that pitted the classic big screen ruffians together for the first time since the 1960s.

The next time those two will be seen is going to be in Adam Wingard’s sequel to his last matchup, Godzilla vs. Kong, still untitled as yet. There are hints that more of the classic mega monster kaiju are going to be barging into this massive fight, but those secrets are staying so. But now, like Star Wars, Legendary is expanding the MonsterVerse to the small screen, too, with another untitled series coming to Apple TV+ in the near future. They’ve begun dropping teaser images and playing coy in the comments that follow these drops, their lips tighter than the Monarch group whose own shadowy doings are better hidden than Dean Wormer’s double secret probation for Animal House.

While’s mum’s been the word from the Monarch boys, what audiences do know for sure is that the upcoming series will feature the father and son acting team of Kurt and Wyatt Russell, neither of them strangers to stories of sci-fi or action what with their joint forays into the Marvel Universe and their own respective work outside of that—the man who played Snake Plissken seems like more than a match for any pesky kaiju that could run amok. They’re going to be joining Kiersey Clemons, Joe Tippett, and Ren Watabe in the upcoming Godzilla series.
