The Battle Royale craze seems to simply be unstoppable. With Apex Legends being one of the games at the forefront of this trend, the title has gained massive popularity. It has been well received for its character diversity, large maps, dynamic game mechanics, and large player base. However, some more nuanced features of this giant tend to get overlooked.

One of the more interesting aspects of Apex is its surprisingly in-depth and detailed lore. Most battle royale-based games lean towards creating a simple world focused almost wholly on gameplay. Apex Legends, taking a note from Titanfall, prefers to give its players a living, breathing world to play in. Here are ten facts most players fail to notice about World's Edge, one of the game's most popular maps.

10 Located On The Planet Talos

Apex Legends contains such a large world with an abundance of maps and countless areas, sometimes players can get confused about what planet they are on. Some players are so focused on the gameplay that they don't even care. Regardless of the reason for not knowing, World's Edge is located on the planet of Talos, which also contains the other notable location of Bloodhound's Village.

9 Was Previously Uninhabitable

Many parts of World's Edge may seem idyllic now; however this was not always the case. In fact this area, and the entire planet of Talos, were uninhabitable. The Interstellar-Manufacturing Corporation (or IMC for short) as part of their multiple colonization efforts, would terraform the land with heat reducing towers to make it livable for humans.

7 Cooling Tower Explosion

The world of Apex Legends is in a constant flux of drastic changes. The universe is privy to volatile events and catastrophes that alter entire planets. One of these catastrophes occurred on World's Edge, when one of the cooling towers exploded, causing a massive flash freeze that killed most of the cities population. This tragedy would leave World's Edge unpopulated, save for the few survivors who live like animals hunting and living off the land.

6 A New Opportunity For World's Edge

After the legend Crypto exploded an EMP in the center of the Apex Games, Kings Canyon, deeming the area unviable for humans, World's Edge would be presented with a new chance at prosperity. The Syndicate initially sought to rebuild Kings Canyon and continue hosting the games there, however this proved to be too challenging. The Syndicate would eventually settle on utilizing the ruins of World's Edge as the new center for the Apex Games, bringing this haunting location back to life.

5 The Location Of A Cold-Blooded Murder

The Apex games were set for a new legend, James "The Forge" McCormick, toted as the "People's champion." This would, however, not transpire. While doing a live TV interview regarding his new status as a legend, the Forge was assassinated by Revenant. This brutal and televised murder took place at World's Edge in the Sorting Factory.

4 Enter Hammond Robotics

Virtually all of the functional buildings found in World's Edge today have been constructed by Hammond Robotics. The company felt it had both a business interest in terms of it's connection to the Syndicate, and also a rare mineral interest, not unlike the IMC many years ago.

Buildings and harvesters are not Hammond's only interests station at World's Edge. It is also the location of one of the companies rockets, which is being maintained by a local crew. However Hammond Robotics has not made the purpose of this rocket clear. They have many other space craft, yet this one seems to be quite special to the company. This rocket will most likely play a larger role in upcoming seasons.

2 Once Had A Graffiti Problem

It seems that even the universe of Apex Legends isn't free from real world problems. The beginning of 2020 marked a very suspicious arrival of graffiti popping up around the map. The messages were very vague, and genuinely confusing. Eventually these graffiti marks would be revealed to have been a hint at the upcoming Legend, Rampart.

1 Bigger Arena Than Kings Canyon

From a pure gameplay perspective, the arena in World's Edge is 150% the size of the original Apex arena Kings Canyon. This may seem like a quite large and noticeable difference, however when considering the frantic gameplay of any battle royale, players can be forgiven for not looking into map size statistics during or before rounds.
