Apex Legends just got a ton of new details confirmed to be coming with the Season 9 Legacy update. In line with previous Apex Legends seasonal gameplay trailers, the Legacy gameplay trailer showed off new in-game footage of the Arena mode, gameplay of Valkyrie, and the new Bocek Bow in action.

However, there were also several different subtle teasers sprinkled throughout the trailer teasing other changes coming in the Legacy update. Specifically, eagle-eyed fans can notice that this Apex Legends trailer showcased a buff for the Mozambique: the sidearm shotgun will now have six shots instead of four.

This detail is pretty much a "blink and miss it" element of the new trailer, but it's almost certainly a deliberate tease. The tease in question shows up one minute and 30 seconds into the gameplay trailer, while Ash is detailing the brand new Arena mode. Fans can see Mirage using the Mozambique as normal, but when aiming down sights the magazine count shows six shots. This buff is undeniably going to make the Mozambique much more useful, provided players are able to find and equip the Hammerpoint hop-up.

While some players consider the Mozambique an underrated weapon, the sidearm shotgun does drop off in usefulness as matches near the late game. However, the Hammerpoint attachment allows damage to unshielded opponents to skyrocket, especially if players are as accurate as possible. It's currently unknown whether or not the Mozambique's damage output or spread has been changed, but the increased magazine size alone is noteworthy enough. Considering the Mozambique has always had a reputation for being underpowered, it's fairly likely the damage output hasn't been lowered at the very least.

Still, while this buff could prove to be significant, it's unlikely that the Mozambique will become overpowered as a result. Loadouts such as the Golden April Fools Mozambique variant certainly made the shotgun a force to be reckoned with, but it takes a lot to make the Mozambique deadly in the right hands. Especially with the recent confirmation that the Peacekeeper shotgun is coming out of Care Packages in Legacy, the Mozambique will have even more competition amongst the other shotguns in the game. Though, this buff will no doubt make it a much more viable option in Apex Legends' early game.

Aside from the standard battle royale mode, the Mozambique may also find new life in the now confirmed Arena mode coming in Legacy. The Arena mode will focus the gameplay of Apex Legends on 3v3 fights, with much of the strategy centering around specific loadouts. Provided teams are able to coordinate effectively, members of a squad using a Mozambique with Hammerpoint have the potential to clean up entire enemy squads in no time flat. Players will have to wait and see what other changes are coming to the weapon pool when the Legacy update rolls out on May 4.

Apex Legends is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
