Apex Legends Update Nerfs One of Season 20’s Most Overpowered Guns

Respawn Entertainment makes changes to one overpowered weapon only several days after the launch of Season 20 of Apex Legends.

Every player will have their preferences, so keep that in mind, as although some guns are overpowered and are recommended, players will naturally prefer some guns simply due to their specific play style or familiarity with them. For example, if a sniper is highly effective, but players have always avoided using snipers, then naturally, those players will thrive with other guns.

7 Flatline

Very Well Rounded Assault Rifle

Flatline - Apex Legends Best Guns
  • Perfect Fire Rate
  • Able To Deal Heavy Damage
  • Very Stable When Shooting At All Ranges

The Flatline is a very good weapon option in Apex Legends Season 20, with a stable bullet spread that is relatively easy to control compared to many of the other weapons in Apex. The fire rate on the Flatline is perfectly balanced for a weapon that is built to be effective from any range and in any situation.

It shoots exactly how an assault rifle should shoot, and how many players expect an assault rifle to shoot, with a steady rhythm that sums up how the Flatline feels in-game. Additionally, the Flatline somehow suits every sight in the game, especially the 2x sight, which feels tailor-made for the Flatline.

6 Nemesis

Three-Round Burst Energy Rifle

apex legends season 16 nemesis
  • Can Deal Large Damage From All Ranges
  • Iron Sights Are Better Than Most
  • Speeds Up As Players Shoot

Usable at close and long range, the Nemesis is once again a very good gun. It speeds up in fire rate as players use it continuously, turning it rapidly into an SMG-like energy weapon, while also dealing heavy damage from afar. The three-round burst element does make it slightly difficult to control from long range, but that is more of a skill issue.

The weapons in Apex Legends fluctuate in popularity depending on the characters players are using, and these are the best ones in 2024.

The iron sights on the Nemesis are another plus point, with the gun being effective without a scope at medium or close range. The Nemesis has been the target of calls for a nerf due to it being such a good gun. However, it seems to have avoided any significant change from Season 19.

5 EVA-8

Semi-Auto Shotgun

Eva 8 Shotgun
  • Can Get Quick And Powerful Shots Off
  • Comes Ready With A 1x Digital Threat Scope
  • Feels Very Satisfying To Use

Being subbed in to the care package rotation in place of the Prowler PDW, the EVA-8 has received a massive upgrade in damage. The semi-auto aspect of the EVA-8 is much more effective now, with each hit being a powerful thump dealing heavy damage. Players can pummel enemies with multiple big damage shots from the EVA-8

Add to that the fact that the EVA-8 automatically comes with a1x Digital Threat scope and Hammerpoint rounds. This means it is useful through smoke and deals extra damage against players who have no shield left.

4 Wingman

Powerful Pistol

apex legends wingman default appearance
  • 6 Quick And Powerful Shots
  • Comes Ready With a 1x Digital Threat Scope
  • Very High Headshot Damage

Having a revolver in a game which is set on a massive map sounds like bad news, but for the Wingman, this is no problem at all. The Wingman is more of a marksman's gun as opposed to being a pistol, with excellent damage at long range, so long as the player's aim is good enough.

Additionally, the Wingman works very well at close range, with the hip fire being stable and easy to use. The Wingman is once again part of the care package drop in Season 20, which makes sense, as it is a unique weapon. If players can get their hands on a Wingman this Season, they will find themselves racking up damage with ease.

3 Bocek

Tactical Bow

bocek bow apex legends
  • High Damage When Used By Players With Good Aim
  • Different Fire Types
  • Long And Close Range Capabilities

A bow instantly doesn't sound like it will deal damage, purely because it is a bow in a world of assault rifles, SMG's, and marksman rifles. However, the Bocek is definitely an exception to this assumption. The Bocek is equipped with a very high level of accuracy and tremendous amounts of damage, especially when the bow is fully flexed back.

To add to this, the Bocek can shoot a shotgun-like spread of arrows, and shoot while not fully flexed, making it more than ideal from all ranges. The only thing about the Bocek that stops it from being the best weapon in the game is the fact that it does require a high skill level to perfect, and, of course, the fact that it is a bow, therefore not fully-auto.

2 Kraber

Sniper Rifle

kraber-sniper-rifle
  • Most Damage In The Game
  • Microscopic Accuracy
  • Release The Inner Chris Kyle

The devastating sniper rifle remains a part of the care package drops in Season 20, with it maintaining its reign as the best gun in the game in terms of damage. Granted, players will need good aim and must be comfortable using a sniper rifle to get the best out of the Kraber.

Apex Legends Dev Reveals Aim Assist Change Coming With 120hz Update

Following the announcement of Performance Mode for Apex Legends, a Respawn Entertainment developer reveals a change coming to aim assist.

However, with its high-power scope letting players zoom very far in to see their enemy, the Kraber is actually easier in comparison to the Sentinel or Charge Rifle when it comes to sniping. Players can almost one-shot opponents, with a headshot being an easy kill with the Kraber.

1 Hemlok

Three-Round Burst Assault Rifle

Apex Legends Hemlok
  • Extremely Easy To Control
  • Most Stable Gun In The Game
  • Great Damage From All Ranges

A three-round burst gun isn't always the easiest to control, but the Hemlok subverts that idea. Delivering an extremely stable shooting experience that makes life much easier when attempting to control its aim, the Hemlok might be the easiest gun to use in the whole game.

The Hemlok suits essentially all the available sights, along with having one of the better iron sights in the game that is very simple and easy to grasp. As with many of the assault rifles this Season, it is one of the guns that has definitely benefited from the big nerf of most SMG weapons, as it is now able to handle itself at close range, as well as its excellent mid- and long-range effectiveness.
