After many requests from Apex Legends players to give Pathfinder a new passive, the game might just make it happen in Season 16. Players spotted this in a Respawn dev's recent live stream, where they might have leaked a new passive ability for the Recon-class Legend while playing the game.

Pathfinder, also known as the Forward Scout, is an optimistic and friendly MRVN (Mobile Robotic Versatile eNtity) that specializes in scouting and surveying areas. He is a popular character among Apex Legends players thanks to his mobility skills, with an impressive 9.7% pick rate in Season 15 so far. His tactical ability is a Grappling Hook that can be used to reach higher ground and move around, while his ultimate is the Zipline Gun that shoots out a zipline that he and his teammates can use. Lastly, his passive ability Insider Knowledge lets him scan a survey beacon to reveal the ring's next location, as well as decrease his tactical's cooldown and fully charge his ultimate.

While all Recon-class Legends have a shared passive that lets them scan survey beacons, Apex Legends players have long suggested a new Pathfinder passive to improve his performance as a support character further. As pointed out by Apex Legends YouTuber Bobz, the Forward Scout might just get a brand new passive skill in Season 16 that would allow him to travel faster on his ziplines. Some have suggested that this could be a buff for the Zipline Gun, while others believe that it's a new passive ability—one could only guess right now as Respawn has not confirmed anything.

Respawn has said in the past that it was looking to diversify Legends' passive abilities, but these changes have not been made in Apex Legends so far. In the case of Pathfinder, devs have made it clear before that they didn't want to give him too much power since he's already known as an effective mobility character, and this rumored passive might just give him the right amount of enhanced movement needed.

It's still also possible that Pathfinder's rumored new passive might not be implemented in Season 16, or it could be scrapped completely. Respawn devs have recounted testing out certain abilities and map mechanics, like Broken Moon's low-gravity gameplay, that didn't make it to the game, and this Pathfinder passive might just be one of them. But many players are still holding out hope for their favorite MRVN.

Apex Legends is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
