Octane may be a season 1 Apex Legends character, but he has remained incredibly popular ever since his introduction. Not only is his kit pretty simple for newcomers, but it is viable in high-level play. It helps that, generally speaking, Octane and his abilities are pretty cool too. As such, it’s no surprise that Octane is often at the top of the pick charts, alongside other popular characters like Wraith and the new seasonal character.

Octane’s ability to run very fast at the expense of some health can get him in and out of bad situations, even if those situations are not exactly other Apex Legends players. Redditor dabonemhatersyeet recently shared a clip of an enemy Octane, utilizing a Pirates of the Caribbean quote and score to suggest this is the “best Octane [they have] ever seen.”

As seen below, the clip opens with a Pirates of the Caribbean scene where an underling of Admiral James Norrington calls Jack Sparrow the best pirate he’s ever seen and switches to a clip of an Octane running—from a horde of about 5-6 Prowlers. With the Pirates of the Caribbean score in the background, it makes for an incredibly hilarious clip.

It even garnered a reply from a dev. A Senior Technical Artist with the username RSPN_Fishypants commented that “everything about this made [them] laugh. +1.” This, in turn, lead to many comments asking for a Jack Sparrow-inspired skin for Octane, and while that would certainly be welcome, it doesn’t seem too likely. Unlike its competitor Fortnite, Apex Legends has never really crossed over with other major franchises like this.

Still, it’s a new year and anything is possible. Fans know that a PS5 and Xbox Series X version is in the works, that cross-progression is being worked on, and that Apex Legends season 12 will start in February. There is some current rumor and speculation that the season 12 character will be Maggie, but that remains to be seen. All of this is to say that there’s a full year for Respawn to pull out some surprises, even if it’s not exactly a Jack Sparrow skin.

Nonetheless, if there is one thing for certain, it’s that Octane’s popularity isn’t likely to waver in season 12. There are a ton of players aboard the Octrain, and it’s not slowing down anytime soon.

Apex Legends is available on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
