An Apex Legends player has found a secret hiding spot and an Easter egg on the new Broken Moon map. The spot can be found inside what is called The Core on the map and requires a way to traverse vertically. The hiding spot seems to be wholly unintended by the Apex Legends team since the character model seems to clip inside structures, but the Nessie plushie found on the side of the area was definitely meant to be there.
Apex Legends is a battle royale game developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by EA in 2019. The hero-based shooter features around a couple of dozen Legends that have unique abilities and ultimate powers. In the game, players join teams of two or three with the aim of being the last team standing on an ever-shrinking map. The current map rotation for Ranked games includes three maps, the newest of which, Broken Moon, was just recently added to the game.
A player exploring the new map has posted a video on Reddit showing an odd glitch and a classic Respawn Nessie Easter egg. The player is running through a high-tier looting area called Perpetual Core and decides to use one of the abilities of Valkyrie to see what's up in the spinning blades. Perhaps trying to find a spot to hide on top of the blades, he instead clips into them. Not only does the surprised player find a hiding spot that is unlikely to be ever found, if the circle ends up there, but he also spots something on the rim of the Core.
Earlier this year, Gun Run mode in Apex Legends included a super-rare Nessie Easter egg. This one is located above, at the center of the Core. One can actually see the toy Nessie from below if the player happens to look up, although getting there needs some sort of vertical ability. In addition to Valkyrie's flight, players might have to use a Pathfinder or perhaps Octane's launch pad to get enough height.
Apex Legends isn't even the first game Respawn is using the cute Loch Ness Monster as an Easter egg. Nessie has appeared even in Titanfall 2, set in the same universe as Apex Legends.
