Apex Legends is due to receive an exciting new weapon in Season 16, according to the latest batch of leaks. While the game has certainly had its fair share of leaks over the years, it would seem that the upcoming season in particular may be a bit of a sieve already, even though it won't be arriving until early 2023.

Namely, Apex Legends' Season 16 is set and primed to launch as a free content update sometime in February. Being the game's next major milestone, leakers have already jumped on the opportunity to publicize a wide variety of changes and improvements that may or may not be coming as part of its changelog, and one of these is indeed an all-new weapon.

According to leaker GG Thordan Smash, who has a reasonably reliable track record, ApexLegends will finally receive the long-touted burst-firing Nemesis AR as a major Season 16 draw. Smash had previously leaked several potentially game-changing Apex Legends Season 16 features and appears to have access to loads of information about the title's next batch of seasonal content. There may be merit in their claims, then, though it should be pointed out that it's always a good idea to keep a pinch of salt at hand when it comes to game leaks.

The Nemesis AR will be familiar to those who've kept track of Apex's leaks over the course of 2022. Namely, it was a prominent part of the Apex Legends' weapons leak in March, with some players even being able to access and test it out in the game's firing range. It's a bit strange, then, that it would take a whole year for Respawn Entertainment to implement it into the game, but this is likely due to balancing concerns and Apex's ever-changing meta.

Furthermore, Nemesis isn't even the only weapon that might be making its way into Apex in Season 16. A different batch of leaks suggests that Apex Legends might get a new SMG early next year too. Hypothetically, this would mean that players could be getting access to a whole suite of new short and mid-range engagement options in Season 16, should all these leaks end up being true.

Whatever the case may be, it's going to take a few more months until players can verify the veracity of the leakers' claims about Season 16 content. In the interim, it may be more prudent to engage with the Apex Legends' Wintertide Collection Event instead. With a wealth of new cosmetics and assorted items to chase after, players have an opportunity to upgrade their collections with seasonal winter-themed goodies which are sure to make any Apex match an appropriately festive experience for everyone involved.

Apex Legends is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S.
