Apex Legends has been in a constant state of change, every update there's something that's changed like how a gun behaves, or if a map is out of rotation. However, the most significant change is that the game gets overhauled every new season. Since it's been dropped on the world, Apex Legends has changed how battle royals work and has become one of the better ones to get into because of how easy it is. With Apex Legends heading into a new season, players can look forward to a new legend called: Vantage.

She was leaked a few months ago, so players were expecting her to make her in-game debut. But, what players wouldn't anticipate, is how she works. She isn't as aggressive as most other legends, but, on the other hand, but has the potential to change Apex Legend's meta. Vantage is one of the more challenging legends to learn, however, if players read this guide, they can master her abilities faster.

Spotter's Lens

Usually in first-person-shooters aim down sights (ADS) is a staple, increases the accuracy, and allows players to see further. It's a basic rule of most shooters. In Apex Legends the same rule applies to all legends, except for Vantage. Her passive ability allows this system to be enhanced and makes planning out an attack a lot more interesting. The Spotter's Lens ability is a great perk to have because whenever Vantage is using ADS on a specific target, she can see what type of gear they have on them.

So, for example, if the enemy has a blue chest armor on, the Spotter's Lens will let Vantage know that. In turn, makes planning an attack easier since players know exactly what the enemy has on them. Plus, this information gets relayed to the rest of the team, making firefights more predictable. In maps like Storm Point with many open areas for sniping, this ability will come in handy. However, players who are using Vantage should note that this ability doesn't work with all scopes, only with mid to long-range scopes. Alternatively, players can ADS without a gun out, and they can still see that information. Since this ability is passive, as mentioned before, it will always be on.

Echo Location

This is Vantage tactical ability, so players will need to manually cast it. Her tactical ability can make players really mobile, provided they do it right. Echo which is Vantage's companion, acts like Crypto's drone, but without the tagging ability. So players should always use Echo if they want to get out of a bad situation. Echo can go up to 40 meters in any direction, so it provides good space for the player to jump to, however, as long as they have a good line of sight on Echo, players can easily zip to it. This can make Vantage one of the more mobile legends in Apex Legends. Jumping to Echo is rather limited since players can't shoot or move much when launching at it. But, at the same time, zipping to it is fast, so hitting Vantage can be hard.

However, for the more experienced players, right after they reach Echo, players bounce off it can get an extra jump, which in turn, will prove more useful. There are two things players should take note of when using Echo, first is the cool down at the moment is kind of random, so zipping to it can't be done all the time, only when the outline of Echo is blue. The second, much like Crypto's drone is that Echo can give the player's location away, so if other players see an Echo, they'll know there's a team with Vantage close by. Also, another good thing about Echo is that it follows the players, once they exceed that 40-meter limit.

Use Her Ultimate Often

One of the things that Apex Legends introduced into the battle royal genre, is giving each legend their own setup. Meaning, that every legend has its own abilities unique to them, including ultimates, which can enhance gameplay. When picking a legend, players should consider every aspect of the legend, from their abilities to how they impact the game's overall meta. On top of that, players should also look into each legend's ultimate, because some are stronger than others, and Vantage's should be in the category.

Vantages ultimate is a custom sniper rifle, that holds 5 bullets and is handy, for many reasons, first, it provides additional information that the Spotter's Lens does, so it's great for utility. Secondly, it's how much damage it gives out, which is doubled after the player marks them with the ultimate. The best part is that, even when the player shoots all the shots, the first bullet comes back at the 40 percent mark quickly, then every other bullet comes back 40 percent thereafter. If they have an ultimate accelerator, it comes back even quicker. On top of it being a quick ultimate, the squad gets to enjoy the high damage as well, provided the Vantage has tagged the enemy.

Long-Range Weapons

While Vantage is a powerful legend, the outshines a lot of other legends in the distance department. That means if players use any combination of weapons, provided one of them is capable of long-distance shooting, they will be able to see her advantages. She does better at range because she can hit better, and more consistently, plus she provides additional damage to her team at a distance as well.

Since her ultimate is a sniper, players don't necessarily need to have a long-range weapon on them, since her ultimate can be a third gun. She can also make the squad have a damage boost, this, in turn, makes the squad just as deadly as Vantage and can lead the more successful matches. Vantage players should always stay behind and offer cover fire from high above, and consistently hit their target because Vantage has better accuracy.

Using Heights

Taking everything from all these tips and putting them together will make players a threat in the match, but if players lean into her strengths, then they'll be an unstoppable sniper. This comes in the form of getting a distance between a Vantage and an enemy player, by getting high above everyone else. This can be done in many ways, but the best way is to use Echo, as long as they have a line of sight, players will be able to zip to a higher spot.

From there, the Vantage can call out shots, tag farther enemies, use her ultimate, and boost the squad's damage all without taking a hit. If used right, she can even take down some harder legends in Apex Legends like Octane. Fighting on the ground level face to face won't ruin the qualities of Vantage, when players have a birds-eye view of the battlefield, they'll see how much menace she can be.

Apex Legends is available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, and PC.
