Developer Respawn Entertainment has released a new gameplay trailer for Season 8 of Apex Legends, showcasing changes to King’s Canyon, the abilities of the new legend Fuse, the new 30-30 Repeater rifle, new skins, and more.

Fuse was introduced as the next legend for Apex Legends last week with two trailers. The first trailer showed Fuse’s backstory on his home planet of Salvo, while the second showed his disastrous arrival at the Apex Games. Fuse went against the wishes of the leader of Salvo when he joined the Apex Games, as Salvo thus far had refused to join the Syndicate, creators of the Apex Games and controlling power of the Outlands.

The new gameplay trailer unveils Obliterated King’s Canyon, a heavily reworked version of the map as a result of the leader of Salvo trying to kill Fuse. Multiple areas such as Slum Lakes have a completely new look and layout after the Syndicate started to rebuild King’s Canyon after the destruction. The crashed ship from the trailer is also revealed to have taken out a chunk of the northern mountains, creating a whole new playable area naturally called Crash Site.

The trailer then shows some of the new skins that will be included in the Battle Pass. Lifeline and Bangalore will be getting legendary skins that seem to have a heavy metal/punk vibe. The Longbow DMR will be getting this season’s reactive legendary skin. Next in the trailer is the 30-30 Repeater. The new level-action rifle can be fired quicker than the longbow, but not as quick as the G7. The weapon also seems to have some sort of charge function to deal more damage, akin to the choke on the Triple Take.

The trailer also shows off the previously announced gold magazine. The magazine is shown on a Spitfire in the hands of a Rampart, who’s passive extends the size of the gold magazine enough to knock and entire squad. The gold magazine also allows the weapon to reload itself when holstered. The exact details of how long it needs to be stored for, how much the magazine size increases, and whether there will be a gold magazine for weapon types other than the heavy class will assumedly be in the patch notes.

Lastly, Fuse’s much datamined and theorized abilities are finally demonstrated. Fuse tactical, which he lovingly refers to as the “knucklecluster,” is an Airburst Grenade that deals a small amount of damage to an area. His ultimate is The Motherlode, which fires a bomb into the air that scatters pockets of fire over a large area. Lastly his passive is the ability to launch grenades in his inventory with his robot arm. The passive seems to send grenades faster and in more of a direct line than traditionally throwing them.

Season 8, appropriately title Mayhem, begins next Tuesday, February 2. Apex Legends’ second anniversary will be on February 4. Previous datamines have suggested that there will be an anniversary Collection Event featuring recolors of popular past legendary skins either on or near the launch of Season 8. It is also believed that the long awaited Switch version of Apex will release next week, based on Amazon listings.

Apex Legends is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Switch version also in development.
