Confirmed Apex Legends x Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Skins So Far

Apex Legends and Final Fantasy 7 Crossover

The Apex Legends x Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth crossover event will drop on January 9, 2024. So far, three skins have been confirmed for Crypto, Horizon, and Wraith. These are rumored to be sold via the in-game store.

Crypto - Cloud Strife Skin

Crypto Posing

Recon Legend Crypto was given the honor of sporting the Cloud Strife skin for the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth crossover event. It's fitting as both Crypto and Cloud are stoic, but they also care about their peers.

What's interesting about the Cloud Strife skin is that it might include a Buster Sword. The trailer showed Crypto performing the "Braver" Limit Break using the massive sword, which sparked theories that players would be given the opportunity to use the iconic weapon in battle for a limited time.

Horizon - Aerith Gainsborough Skin

Known as the mom of the Apex Legends roster, Horizon was aptly given the FF7 Aerith Gainsborough skin. Aerith is described as caring and optimistic even when she's in imminent danger. These are also qualities that many Apex Legends players associate Horizon with.

What sets the two characters apart is that Horizon is a Skirmisher in Apex Legends, a class that utilizes movement abilities to engage in combat, while Aerith is mainly a healer and magic user. It's still unknown how these qualities will converge during the crossover event.

Wraith - Vincent Valentine Skin

Wraith is a deadly Legend with a mysterious past, and a fiery determination to find the people that locked her up in a detention cell and took away her memories. This darkness makes her a good fit for the Vincent Valentine skin. In Final Fantasy 7, Vincent is always brooding about his past sins and keeps his burdens to himself. Both he and Wraith have a darkness within their personalities, but they always watch out for their allies.

Just like Cloud's Buster Sword, Final Fantasy 7 fans recognize Vincent's Cerberus handgun. If the crossover event does make use of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth weapons, Cerberus would be an interesting limited-time addition to Apex Legends' arsenal. It can also be a skin for one of the handguns in the game.

Rumored Features and Skins

It's possible that Apex Legends might reveal more skins for the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth crossover in the next few weeks. Some dataminers alleged that there will also be skins for Wattson, Newcastle, and Valkyrie. Select weapons will reportedly receive Epic skins as well. On the cosmetics side, players will seemingly receive frames, trackers, and badges inspired by Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

These features aren't confirmed yet, so players should take the information with a grain of salt. But considering Final Fantasy 7's compelling universe and roster of characters, it wouldn't be a surprise if Apex Legends maximizes these elements for the crossover.
