Respawn Entertainment has confirmed that it's working on a hotfix for a strange Apex Legends bug preventing players from reloading while standing in a doorway. Apex Legends has had its fair share of strange bugs and glitches in the past. Any massive game like Apex Legends is going to run into unforeseen problems even with robust quality assurance testing before a patch is delivered. Apex Legends not being able to reload in doorways is a special sort of oddity, though. The glitch arrived as part of Apex Legends' recent update for the launch of Season 15: Eclipse. Season 15 introduced an entirely new map, Broken Moon, as well as the new Legend Catalyst. No changes were made to Apex Legends' doors with the update, at least none confirmed to the public, but Catalyst's abilities do allow her to both reinforce doors and build new ones using her powers. In other words, there's an indication that doors in Apex Legends may be behaving oddly as of Season 15's start.RELATED: Apex Legends Catalyst and Rampart Glitch Creates Invincible TurretThe result is a strange bug preventing certain Apex Legends players from being able to reload when they're in doorways. It's not all players, and at times it isn't reproducible, but it does appear to only be impacting those using a controller. Pressing the standard reload button will instead glitch, as it attempts to do some sort of interaction with the doorway instead. Players have reported using a different button or moving away from the doorway solves the problem, but obviously, if a player is in a firefight that isn't optimal.

It isn't just a problem with reloading, either. Some Apex Legends players have said they've had issues with opening loot boxes that land in doorways, too. Generally, players are recommending not to try to do anything important in a doorway in Apex Legends, whether it be crouching, throwing a grenade, or whathaveyou. The doorway could eat the action and players could come to regret it.

A hotfix is coming in the near future, though. Apex Legends senior producer Josh Medina says that the fix will be delivered "soon," but doesn't offer up any further information. Medina describes it as a "hotfix patch," however, which could mean Respawn will issue it server-side, or it could mean a proper patch that will take time for certification. Either way, players will have to be patient.

Many players are placing the blame for the issue on Catalyst. Her abilities to reinforce doors and fix broken ones do seem to add complexity to doorways that didn't exist before. While Respawn figures it out, Apex Legends players should be a tad careful where they reload.

Apex Legends is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile devices.
