Season 9 and the Legacy update have introduced two new weapon Hop-Ups to Apex Legends, one of which is Deadeye’s Temp for the new Bocek Bow and the Sentinel Sniper Rifle. Slotting this Hop-Up onto either weapon increases their rates of fire whenever players fire perfectly timed shots, making them very deadly in the hands of accurate players.

Plenty of balance changes also arrived in Apex Legends with the new season and Legacy update, as well as these two new Hop-Ups. Players can also engage in 3v3 battles in the new permanent Arenas mode and take flight with the new Titanfall-inspired Legend Valkyrie.

Deadeye’s Tempo is an Epic rarity (purple) weapon Hop-Up that is only compatible with the Bocek Bow and Sentinel Sniper Rifle. It can be found as ground and supply bin loot throughout Apex Legends matches and in care packages. When equipped, the Hop-Up improves each weapon by increasing their fire rates after a player fires a perfectly timed shot.

Deadeye’s Tempo is very different to any other Hop-Up that has been in Apex Legends so far, and there are lots of other interesting balance changes in the Apex Legends Season 9 update, too. Players will notice that they will have extra visual elements on screen when holding a weapon equipped with Deadeye’s Tempo to show the exact timing for firing perfect shots, which is a lot simpler than it sounds. It also works slightly differently for both weapons and is harder to use on the Bocek Bow.

How To Activate Deadeye’s Tempo For The Sentinel:

When Deadeye’s Tempo is equipped on a Sentinel, Apex Legends players will notice a transparent icon consisting of a shallow ‘U’ shape with a small pip just above it below the hip-fire crosshairs. This icon represents the perfect shot window and will light up blue when that window is active. After a player fires a shot with the Sentinel, their Legend will rechamber the weapon by pulling the bolt. As soon as this happens, the perfect shot window icon will light up for a short amount of time.

If a player fires another Sentinel shot while the icon is blue, a blue pip will appear on the left and right of the perfect shot icon. These pips mean that Deadeye’s Tempo is now active, and players will notice that their Legend pulls the Sentinel bolt much quicker than usual, resulting in a fast fire rate. The perfect shot icon will also return to its normal transparent appearance whenever the player’s Legend is pulling the bolt but will light up again when the Sentinel is ready to be fired again. Players can also see all this information while aiming with a sight or scope.

To keep the Apex Legends Deadeye’s Tempo going, players just need to keep firing shots as soon as they can. If players fire their next shot after the perfect shot icon has become transparent, they will lose the increased bolt pull speed and will return to a normal rate of fire. It is also worth noting that the benefit of Deadeye’s Tempo does not continue between magazines as the Sentinel reload time is too long.

Using Deadeye’s Tempo is very easy, especially compared to the Bocek Bow. The timing window for perfect shots is short, but so long as players are pulling the Sentinel’s trigger as soon as it can be fired, it is almost impossible to lose the Deadeye’s Tempo benefit.

Any dedicated snipers in Apex Legends will definitely want to seek out one of these Hop-Ups for their Sentinel. It makes the sniper rifle far more deadly at longer ranges, especially in the hands of players that are able to maintain their aim while the bolt is being pulled. A faster rate of fire also means it is more usable in at medium ranges as accurate and rapid shots mean enemy players will have less time to react, although a large sniper magazine and a good sniper stock are very important for accurate and uninterrupted shots up close.

How To Activate Deadeye’s Tempo For The Bocek Bow:

Deadeye’s Tempo works mostly the same for the Bocek Bow except it has slightly different icons, requires an extra shot to reach the maximum bowstring draw speed, and has a very strict perfect shot timing window.

When using the Bocek Bow normally, players will be able to see the bow icon just below the hip-fire crosshairs which fills up to show how much the bowstring is drawn, turning blue when fully drawn. With Deadeye’s Tempo equipped, a very thin transparent line appears just above this icon which is the Bow’s version of the perfect shot window icon. As the Bow is fully drawn, this thin icon will light up for a split second.

Firing an arrow while this thin icon is blue will slightly increase the draw speed for the Bow but not to its maximum. This is shown by the two extra transparent pips just below the bowstring draw icon. These mark the level of Deadeye’s Tempo that the player is currently at, as the Bow requires an extra arrow to reach the fastest draw speed. At the first level, only the left pip will light up. When a player fires another arrow when this pip and the perfect shot icon are blue, the other pip will light up and two smaller pips will appear either side, exactly like with the Sentinel.

Once this stage has been reached with all the pips lit up, the Bocek Bow can be drawn incredibly quickly. Skilled players that practice and learn the exact timing for the Bow will be able to almost predict the perfect timing and can fire arrows extremely quickly. Apex Legends players need to know that failing to fire at the perfect moment at the maximum draw speed will result in the Deadeye’s Tempo completely resetting. Players can also see all this information while aiming with a sight although the thin perfect shot icon is replaced by another pip which sits on top of the others.

As with the Sentinel, players that can maintain their aim while the Bow is being drawn will benefit greatly from the fire rate boost. Deadeye’s Tempo is a great passive bonus for the Bocek Bow and has the added effect of making its other Hop-Up, Shatter Caps, even better at close range, although it will have to compete with the reintroduced Peacekeeper.
