When Apex Legends season 5 first launched, it brought a number of changes to the battle royale game. Joining newcomer Loba was some major changes to Kings Canyon, a well-needed buff to Mirage, a devastating nerf to Pathfinder, and quite a few weapon changes, but since then, the game has been relatively quiet in terms of "what's new." Now, at EA Play, that's changed.

Fans have been asking for Apex Legends to get cross-play basically since Fortnite first received it, and now Respawn Entertainment has confirmed that it is coming this fall with a plethora of other content. The company stopped short of revealing when, but alongside cross-play, it's also getting Steam and Switch ports around the same time. In other words, it should be a good fall for the game.

It didn't stop there, though, instead revealing content coming much sooner than that. Apex Legends season 5 is getting a new collection event called Lost Treasures, complete with brand new skins shown for nearly every legend from Crypto to Revenant. Beyond an impressive visual shown and a brand new area based on Crypto, little more was confirmed other than a start date of June 23. Fans can expect it to be much like past collection events.

When cross-play does drop later this year, the question becomes whether or not there will be cross-saves. Especially with the Switch port, some may want to use their old Apex Legends skins on the go, but that remains a question mark for now. The confirmation of a tentative release window for cross-play and these ports may be enough for many for now, since there's an upcoming event to keep them busy as well.

Apex Legends is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
