The daughter of Ant-Man, Scott Lang, is set to debut as a hero in the MCU with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The film is a promising and microscopic spectacle and will bring forth not only the future of the MCU with Kang the Conqueror but will provide audiences with a new hero to add to the growing roster of Phase 4 with Cassie Lang.

Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has brought many recent comic characters to the silver screen, and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is going to do it once more with Cassie Lang. This character has had a fairly rich history in the comics, showing how she has a bright future awaiting her MCU hero debut.

6 Heart Defect

Cassie Lang In Ant-Man (2015)

Cassandra Lang was born with a heart condition that left her in terribly poor health. This is the moment that spurred Scott Lang into becoming more of a thief, as he attempted to steal Hank Pym’s costume. With the Ant-Man suit, Scott rescued a doctor that would be able to heal Cassie’s poor heart condition.

Cassie’s heart defect is a part of her character. It gives her a fault that some people can relate to, and it adds a dramatic element to her character that she has a condition such as that. This has not been touched on in the MCU, but it could have happened already. It also helps show just how close Cassie and Scott are as a father and daughter.

5 Secret Invasion

Super-Skrull

The Skrull invasion was a key part of the Marvel Universe, and Cassie played a role in their defeat. This comic event had the Skrulls invade Earth in an attempt to take it over from the inside, but thanks to heroes like Cassie Lang, they were no match for Earth’s combined might.

The MCU is set to undergo its own Secret Invasion in a Disney Plus special. Not much is known about the project, much like most of the MCU projects until they are properly released, so it is doubtful that audiences will see Cassie Lang battling Skrulls if she isn’t a superhero before Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

4 Stature And Stinger

Cassie Lang As A Young Avenger

When Cassie became a superhero, she needed a name that best suited her and her powers. She has gone by many names in the comics, but the most well-known is that of Stature. As Stature, Cassie Lang proved herself as a greatly versatile and size-changing hero. However, she has recently elected a new name.

Outside of Stature, her current Marvel Comics name is Stinger. This title is almost like a homage to both Ant-Man and her stepmother of the Wasp. It is unknown what hero name Cassie will go by in the MCU just yet, but it’s an even mix between the well-known Stature and the current Stinger.

3 Superhero Origins

Cassie Lang In Marvel Premiere (1972)

Superheroes have been around for decades in Marvel Comics. Therefore the depiction of characters in MCU to Marvel Comics is quite different. In the MCU, Cassie’s complete obsession and adoration of superheroes aren’t as strong as it is in the comics. Cassie even lived in the Avengers Mansion for a time. Something that spurred her to become an Avenger herself.

Cassie attempted to give herself powers and exposed herself to Pym Particles with the ambition of becoming a superhero with the same powers that were given to the Wasp. Despite the dangers, Cassie faced it head-on and soon became Stature.

2 The Death Of Scott Lang

Scott & Cassie Lang In Ant-Man (2020)

Comic characters always seem to die at one time or another, and Scott Lang also falls victim to the curse of being a hero. Scott Lang reached out to his teammate Jack of Hearts, but the powers of this hero were too much, and he was consumed, detonating into a fierce blast that took out half of the Avengers Mansion, and Scott Lang with it.

Scott’s death was a traumatic period for Cassie, as her father and her mother were going through a court battle for custody of the girl. Cassie did not want to live with her mother, but with the death of her beloved father, she had no choice. Scott Lang’s death was also influenced by the Scarlet Witch, a character that is no stranger to causing trouble in the MCU.

1 Witnessed Thor’s Clone Murder Goliath

By the time the Superhuman Registration Act came about, Iron Man and Captain America were not seeing eye-to-eye. One thing led to another, and a war between superheroes began. There was fighting on both sides, with some teams even having villains. However, one fighter was Cassie Lang, who sided with Captain America.

To show the power of Iron Man’s team, he unleashed a cloned Thor, who went rogue and killed Goliath. Goliath was a very good friend of Cassie’s and the family, and witnessing a beloved friend’s death made her quit the fight for a time.

Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania lands in theaters in 2023.
