Thanks to the world of anime, just about anything can be a weapon if one puts their mind to it. From a spoon to a deck of cards to huge swords or hammers that shouldn’t even be possible to pick up, let alone wield. In the right hands, anything can be a weapon.

There are plenty of weapons in the anime world that are practical and viable to use in battle. However, there are some weapons that might leave fans scratching their heads on how using them is at all possible or even how some characters are even to carry them without getting strained.

10 Samehada (Naruto Shippuden)

Kisame Hoshigaki Samehada (Naruto Shippuden)

There is no doubt that this sword is deadly, but it is a sentient weapon and it’s quite picky about who gets to wield it. The size of Samehada alone will make it tough for an average person to use it in battle. Because this sword is sentient, it can easily turn on its wielder if it wants to. Samehada chose Kisame to wield it and this was his primary weapon of choice. However, once it got a taste of Killer B’s chakra, it quickly turned on White Zetsu (who was disguised as Kisame while the real Kisame was hidden inside the sword).

Anybody who is inexperienced is also at high risk of being possessed by Samehada, as seen in Boruto when Shizuma Hoshigaki wielded it. Since he lacked experience, Samehada easily took over his body and caused him to go on a rampage.

9 Mineta’s Balls (My Hero Academia)

Mineta (My Hero Academia)

Mineta already gets a lot of flack for being an annoying character in My Hero Academia, but it’s still a mystery how he’s in Class 1-A. His Quirk does come in handy for certain situations, and he is a smart boy, but his ability is really not the best. As a weapon, the balls won’t do any damage, but can stop enemies for a short time. However, that’s the thing: only for a short time.

So far it’s only come in handy against enemies who aren’t on the levels of the League of Villains. If Mineta were to go up against someone like Dabi or even Himiko Toga, this wouldn’t stop them.

8 Lavi’s Hammer (D. Gray-Man)

Lavi's Hammer Lavi Big Hammer Little Hammer (D. Gray-Man)

At first glance, Lavi’s hammer looks a little large but practical. Then he transforms it and makes the head of it insanely huge. Thanks to the magical world of anime, the handle doesn’t snap even though it’s obvious it would under normal circumstances. Naturally, the bigger it gets, the heavier it is, but luckily Lavi has no trouble with it.

To Lavi, the hammer doesn’t weigh anything, but if anyone else who isn’t as strong tries to wield it, they probably won’t be successful. It’s probably thanks to its magical properties that the handle of it doesn’t give way to the weight.

7 Clima-Tact (One Piece)

Nami Clima-Tact (One Piece)

There are plenty of weapons in One Piece that aren't all that practical, but the Clima-Tact is on a different level. The wielder can control the surrounding weather, which sounds awesome, however, this is a lot trickier than it sounds. Someone with no skill can easily summon a thunderstorm, but that thunderstorm can also hinder any allies nearby. To make this weapon work to its fullest potential, understanding how the weather works is key.

This weapon is great for Nami because she’s knowledgeable in meteorology and weather systems. Unless someone is an expert like her, this weapon would be best suited as just a rod.

6 Zanbato (Rurouni Kenshin)

Sanosuke Sagara Zanbato (Rurouni Kenshin)

This weapon appeared for a few episodes and didn’t last long at all in Rurouni Kenshin. When Sanosuke appeared, this was his weapon of choice and he wielded it pretty well. However, when he went against Kenshin, this weapon was clearly not a good choice. Sanosuke could swing this blade, but it wasn’t fast.

Kenshin had no problem dodging his attacks and overall the battle was pretty one-sided. The weapon is large, bulky, and looked like it took a lot of Sanosuke’s strength to use. Maybe it would be okay for short battles, but it wouldn’t be viable in a long fight.

5 Killua's Yo-Yos (Hunter X Hunter)

Killua Zoldyck Killua's Yo-Yos (Hunter X Hunter)

If the world of anime has shown one thing: anything can be a weapon. Yo-yos might not seem like the deadliest weapon to have, but Killua carries them around with him. The thing is, these toys weigh about 110 pounds each. Killua wields these weapons like they are toys, so he must have some serious strength in his hands and fingers.

It’s amazing how strong these strings are since they do not snap while being used. Unless someone has strong pockets like Killua, these weapons would be more of a hindrance since they’re heavy and would require a lot of strength and skill to use.

4 The Punisher (Trigun)

Nicholas D. Wolfwood The Punisher (Trigun)

This weapon looks cool and Nicholas D. Wolfwood looks cooler using it, but The Punisher has a bit too much going on. It has a machine gun, storage for pistols, and a rocket launcher. Looking at it, no one would guess it had all this heavy ammunition, but it does and makes anyone watching how that could possibly function.

What makes it even more impractical is that this weighs 300 pounds and somehow Wolfwood uses this giant cross like it weighs nothing. An average person would struggle to carry this around let alone use it as a weapon.

3 Monofilament Wires (Hellsing Ultimate)

Walter C. Dornez young Monofilament Wires (Hellsing Ultimate)

These wires sound awesome because they can cut through concrete and steel, but mastering them has to take a lot of time. These wires are not only strong, but they’re so thin that even vampires have a hard time seeing them. As they are pretty long, they must be really tough to master. It would be quite the challenge to make sure the wires hit their targets.

In the hands of Walter, these wires are extremely lethal and even Alucard had a hard time fighting against him. These wires can cause some serious damage to any enemies and also the surrounding area.

2 Hiraikotsu (Inuyasha)

Sango Hiraikotsu (Inuyasha)

As awesome as Sango is, her weapon just isn’t as practical as some might think. Against an army of low-level demons, her weapon is ideal since it can take out a good chunk of them in one throw. However, against demons like Naraku or even Inuyasha, Hiraikotsu is not that useful. Inuyasha was able to distract Sango to keep her from getting it when it came back.

Other demons can easily knock Hiraikotsu aside like it is nothing. Sango does have other weapons at her disposal, but the Hiraikotsu is her main one. If she’s going up against a group of enemies or a large opponent, this weapon is useful. However, stronger enemies can easily dodge or knock it to the side.

1 Dragon Slayer (Berserk)

Guts Dragon Slayer (Berserk)

It’s not that this weapon isn’t cool and Guts has shown that in his hands, it’s extremely deadly, however, the Dragon Slayer is just so massive in size that any other person would not be able to wield it properly. Considering that it’s made of iron, this weapon possibly weighs between 300-400 pounds, which is a ridiculous amount to carry around let alone wield against demons. Guts carries this weapon around like it’s nothing and wields it effortlessly in battle, making it seem like any other weapon.

While it is easy to forget how heavy this weapon is, what is readily remembered is whenever Guts takes out hordes of enemies in one swipe. Anyone or anything unfortunate enough to be in his way probably won’t be alive if he swings it in their direction. Unless another person is ridiculously strong like him and can wield this sword like it weighs nothing, the Dragon Slayer probably won’t be the most viable weapon to bring to the fight.
