Most of the main characters in an anime are usually very lucky when it comes to having strong powers, good friends, etc. They usually breeze through life with very few difficulties and end up in a very comfortable situation.
But, certain characters are innately unlucky. Wherever they go bad luck follows them and they are unable to shake it off. The characters endure a lot of hardships, and these hardships help to shape their character. They can grow as people and learn more about others.
10 Guts
Guts is the main character of Berserk. He is a talented swordsman, who can fight against monsters on his own. Guts wields a giant broadsword known as the Dragon Slayer and he has managed to kill all sorts of creatures with it.
One might think what could harm a strong individual like Guts, however, his past is traumatizing. He was left to die under a tree near his mother's corpse before he was picked up by Shisu. Not long after Shisu had rescued Guts, she died from the plague.
Guts' misfortunes continued when Gambino sold him to another soldier, who had his way with him. After killing Gambino, Guts was chased by mercenaries. His luck improved for a while when he joined the Band of Hawk, but that soon led to Guts being hounded by apostles.
9 Hasegawa
Hasegawa is a major character from Gintama. For Hasegawa, life never improves. He used to work for the government, but then he got fired. Shortly after he was fired, his wife left him, thus, bringing an end to their marriage.
Throughout the series, Hasegawa attempts to get his life back together, but something always comes up and drags him all the way back to zero. Despite all the setbacks, Hasegawa keeps a positive outlook.
8 Kaneki Ken
When Kaneki decided to go out with Rize, he wasn't expecting that his life would be turned upside down. He didn't realize that Rize was a ghoul, who survived on human flesh. During their time together, Rize tried to eat him, but both of them were involved in a terrible accident.
To save Kaneki, the doctors put Rize's organs inside his body, which led to Kaneki becoming a ghoul. Afterward, Kaneki's life was quite the same and he struggled to find his feet.
7 Tsunade Senju
Tsunade Senju became the Fifth Hokage of the Hidden Leaf after the death of Hiruzen Sarutobi. While she is a very powerful ninja, Tsunade also has very bad luck. She lost her younger brother in an explosion and then she lost her lover, Dan Kato.
Tsunade also has a serious gambling problem and she is so bad at it that she was named the "Legendary Sucker." Despite her bad luck, Tsunade continued to gamble.
6 Yamcha
Over the years Yamcha has become a laughing stock within the Dragon Ball community. Originally, he came off as a strong fighter, but as the series progressed, his situation became worse. The thing that started it all was his breakup with Bulma and then he was killed by the Saibamen.
His death at the hands of Saibamen turned into a meme that is popular to this day. Furthermore, he became a sign of weakness, and in almost every single arc, Yamcha just disappears into the background.
5 Kariya Matou
Kariya Matou is from the Fate/Zero series. He is a powerful character, however, he was never able to save a life. He gave up his entire world to protect a girl from harm and he had to undergo rigorous training.
The training led to him losing control of his mind and physical deterioration. He proposed to the person that he loved only to be turned down. Even his death was considered pointless by Sakura.
4 Himawari Kunogi
She is a character from xxxHOLIC. Himawari brings incredibly bad luck to people around her. She causes numerous accidents which include one of her neighbors committing suicide, another neighbor losing their house to a fire, and her teacher getting stabbed. Himawari doesn't harbor any negative feelings towards people, but her bad luck affects everyone except her parents, who are immune to it.
3 Touma Kamijou
Touma Kamijou's life is ruined by the power that he possesses. His right hand has the power to erase all sorts of magic, which is a strong ability to have. However, Touma is subject to a lot of hatred and discrimination from people. When he goes to Academy City, Touma is made fun of by his peers as his right hand erases his own luck. This makes bad things happen to him as a result.
2 Anne Hanakoizumi
Anne Hanakoizumi is among the main characters of AnneHappy. She joins a special program at the Academy, which focuses on people with incredibly bad luck. Anne's luck is very bad as all kinds of unfortunate things happen to her. She is attacked by animals, falls down, etc. Despite all the bad things that happen to Anne, she keeps a very optimistic attitude.
1 Ganta Igarashi
Ganga Igarashi is the main lead of DeadmanWonderland. His life is ruined when a mysterious character murders every single one of his classmates in front of his eyes. After witnessing this ghastly event, Ganta is framed for the killings and is condemned to death.
Ganta's trouble only becomes worse when he goes to Deadman Wonderland and is forced to participate in fights and watch other people being killed.
