Anime teaches people about a lot of different things including how important it is to be positive. There have been many characters who have suffered countless tragedies, but these incidents did not stop them from living their lives to the fullest.

However, there are certain characters who take their optimism to completely other levels, and while they do not mean any harm, they do cause problems for themselves and the people around them. The excess positivity causes them to make stupid decisions, which come back to haunt them. Which anime heroes are too optimistic?

6 Naruto Uzumaki (Naruto)

Naruto Uzumaki is the main character of Masashi Kishimoto's Naruto, and he was orphaned when he was just a baby. Due to him being the jinchuriki of the Nine-Tails, Naruto was actively despised by the rest of the villagers. They did not let their children play with Naruto, so he grew up without any friends. Naruto managed to survive his harsh childhood, which helped him to become a very kind person.

Naruto's kindness and positivity landed him in trouble multiple times. He rushed headfirst into many situations, which ended up causing him problems. He tried to compete against the likes of Madara and Obito, who were clearly superior to him at the time. Luckily, Naruto had people to support him, otherwise, he would have died in the Fourth Great Ninja War.

5 Emma (The Promised Neverland)

At Grace Field House, many of the children looked up to Emma. Along with Ray and Norman, Emma was among the top three students at the orphanage, and what truly separated her from the other two was her optimism. Emma was able to give the other kids in Grace Field hope that they would survive.

There is nothing wrong with comforting your little brothers and sisters, but Emma's optimism started to develop into a problem when she began to believe that she could make a world where demons and humans could co-exist. Her idealist ways annoyed plenty of fans, and it was insulting to the people who had sacrificed their lives fighting against the demons.

4 Luffy (One Piece)

Monkey D. Luffy is the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates. Under his guidance, the crew has achieved a lot. They have taken down multiple Shichibukai and defeated many Marines. From the very beginning of the show, Luffy made his goal very clear: to become the Pirate King.

Luffy knows that he needs the support of his crew to achieve this dream, but there have been times when the captain has inconvenienced the rest of the Straw Hats with his doggedness. One such incident is when he punched the Celestial Dragon in the Auction House, which resulted in almost the entire Straw Hat crew being killed by Kizaru and the Pacifista. While Luffy does not willingly put his crew at risk, his belief in his abilities sometimes can be risky.

Dragon Ball's Goku is one of the most famous characters of all time. He childhood of many anime fans, and they have watched him grow up and develop into an extraordinarily strong character. Goku is passionate about fighting, and he is always looking for strong opponents who can push him to surpass his limits.

On many occasions, Goku has unlocked new powers while fighting incredibly powerful characters, but sometimes his decision to challenge them has backfired massively. When Cell was on the brink of death following his fight with Goku, the latter decided to give him a Senzu Bean, enabling the villain to recover. Goku was so optimistic that Gohan could defeat Cell that he put the entire planet's future in jeopardy, and his confidence caused his son to suffer a lot of pain that could have been avoided. Unfortunately, this isn't the only instance where Goku's mindless optimism has landed him and the rest of the universe in trouble.

2 Gon (Hunter x Hunter)

In Hunter x Hunter, Gon wanted to find out about his father, so he decided to apply for the Hunter Exam to find more clues about him. Gon's cheerfulness made it easy for him to make friends with other people. On his journey, Gon made three friends: Leorio, Kurapika, and Killua. His optimism helped his friends through tough times, but it also caused him problems.

Due to his positivity, Gon often gives his enemies second chances, who are often happy to repay the favor with injury. This is a pattern that Gon repeatedly exhibits throughout the series. However, it is important to keep in mind that Gon is only 12 years old, so there is still a lot that he needs to learn about the world.

1 Midoriya Izuku (My Hero Academia)

Midoriya was born without a quirk, but it did not stop him from dreaming of becoming a pro-hero. His optimism finally paid off when he met All Might, who decided to pass down his quirk to Midoriya. With the new quirk, Midoriya started to work towards his goal of becoming a hero.

Like most shonen protagonists, Midoriya always approaches any situation positively. While this is the perfect approach in certain situations, occasionally his optimistic approach lands him in a heap of trouble and then other characters have to risk their lives to save him.
