Although its main story may be a little on the short side, there are a ridiculous amount of side activities and secrets crammed into Billy Basso's Animal Well. Most of this additional content can be tackled at any point after finishing the main story, but there is one missable Trophy / Achievement that players ought to be aware of.
Animal Well: How to Unlock Fast Travel
Fast travel in Animal Well is handled a bit differently than in other Metroidvanias. This is a guide on how it works.
To unlock the SNEAK Trophy, Animal Well players will need to sneak up on a squirrel and steal its nut. Unfortunately, there are only a handful of opportunities to do this, making it very easy to miss. The good news is that the first of these opportunities comes just a couple of minutes into a regular playthrough, meaning that players can simply start a new save file if needed.
How to Unlock the SNEAK Trophy / Achievement in Animal Well
The first chance that players get to unlock the SNEAK Trophy comes very early on. This bodes well, as it means that anybody who missed out on unlocking it during their first playthrough won't have to replay large chunks of the game to get it. Like many of the classic nineties games that seem to have inspired it, Animal Well gives players three save files, meaning players will be able to start a new game from the main menu without having to lose any of their progress.
Upon starting a new game, players should go through the opening section as usual; collecting the Firecracker and using it to get past the first ghost. Once they arrive in the area with the four animal statues, they may want to consider using the phone on their left to save the game, as if they mess up unlocking the SNEAK Achievement, they can simply reload and try again. Either way, whenever they're ready to do so, they'll want to exit this screen to the right
In the next area, players should climb up the ladder that leads to the area containing Animal Well's chameleon boss and then keep heading right until they reach a room with a chest. To gain access to this chest, they'll need to jump across to the top right-hand corner of the screen and then drop down onto a platform with a chinchilla on it. They can then lead this chinchilla to the left and use it to reach the platform with the chest on it.
Inside the chest, players will find a key, which they can use to unlock the door in the top left-hand corner of the area to their left. After climbing across the platforms with the hedgehogs on them, players should unlock the door and then very carefully make their way to the next screen. Some guides recommend gently tapping the D-pad here, but it's arguably a lot easier to just use the analog stick with the very slightest of tilts.
Upon entering the next screen, players will find a squirrel facing the other direction, and, once they get close enough, will get a button prompt to take the Squirrel's nut. Doing so will temporarily increase the playable character's health and also unlock the SNEAK Trophy / Achievement. If players move too quickly and spook the squirrel before they get the take prompt, they can just reload their save from near the animal statues and try again until they nail it.
