Now that Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been out for almost a month and the first big holiday has come and gone, players are really going all-out on and off their in-game islands. Some players are truly creating some of the most elaborate island creations out there.
While bells are not overly abundant in New Horizons, there are a handful of ways to make cash quickly provided players have the right amount of determination and luck. One of these ways is by selling turnips in the Stalk Market, and players have gone above and beyond in their turnip selling exploits with New Horizons.
Animal Crossing has allowed players to visit other people’s towns with relative ease for some time now, but the age of social media has really been a huge boon for New Horizons players. Instead of relying on clunky forums, players now have access to easy communication platforms like Discord, Twitter, and Reddit to help them trade valuable items and resources. Some players are even making entirely separate websites, like Nookazon, where players can buy items from any island around the world.
The ease of communication outside of the game has allowed players to really get creative with the game’s rigid online infrastructure. One of the more recent things communication platforms have allowed is a much easier way for players to sell their turnips at the best price available. Platforms like Twitter, Reddit, and the “Turnip Exchange” website allows players to find the best turnip prices at a glance. However, most players usually have some strict rules in place when opening up their island for visitation, like a steep entry fee or item requirements.
The introduction of all these new fan-made tools has allowed players to get the most out of the Animal Crossing community. While Animal Crossing games have always had a very dedicated community surrounding it, New Horizons players are experiencing this in the most streamlined way to-date. While the game’s online systems may not be the most seamless, players are managing to make the most out of the tools they have at their disposal.
While many fans would argue that there are still plenty of quality of life updates and features that New Horizons needs to be a smoother experience, many players are taking matters into their own hands. Many of the fan-created websites like Nookazon and the Turnip Exchange are very well put together and provide enough utility to be incredibly useful for those who need it. It remains to be seen whether or not Nintendo will update New Horizons with more quality of life updates, but players are working around it for now.
