At E3 2019, Nintendo officially revealed Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the first mainline Animal Crossing game since New Leaf came to the 3DS six years ago. While the New Horizons release date is still a ways off, Nintendo's mobile take on the franchise, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, is an opportunity for players to get their Animal Crossing fix in the interim, and a new crossover event is now bringing additional content to the mobile game.

More specifically, a partnership between Nintendo and Sanrio is now set to add items, clothing, and accessories, all inspired by Hello Kitty and other Sanrio characters, to Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. This Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp crossover event will take place across three stages, and while Sanrio's lovable characters will not appear directly in the mobile game, there will be plenty of chances for players to earn Sanrio-themed rewards.

The first stage of the new Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp event is live now, and it will continue until July 22. In this phase, players have access to a collection of items inspired by two characters from Sanrio: Hello Kitty and Cinnamon from the character series Cinnamoroll. These items can be crafted through participating in a special Gyroidite Scavenger Hunt, and there are also Sanrio character rewards to be obtained from Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Fortune Cookies.

Then, in "late July," the event's second stage will add a collection of items focused around Pompompurin and My Melody to the game. This will be followed by a third, and final, stage in August, which looks to add an item collection inspired by Little Twin Stars and Keroppi to Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. Indeed, for fans of Sanrio, it seems that there is a lot to look forward to in this crossover event.

Since its release in 2017, Nintendo has brought new features to Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp as well as new villagers. That said, for fans that are looking to spend a little more time with the mobile entry in the Animal Crossing series, this Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp and Sanrio crossover seems like it could be a great opportunity to do just that.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is out now for Android and iOS devices.
