Ever since its release last month, Animal Crossing: New Horizons continues to captivate players around the world with its charming and relaxing gameplay that revolves around starting a new virtual life on a deserted island. Serving as the latest installment in the popular Animal Crossing franchise, New Horizons brings a lot to the table with near-endless customization options, crafting, and the staple activities of that the franchise is known for such as bug catching and fishing.

Of course, starting a new life on a deserted island is not an easy task, and establishing a vibrant village not only requires a massive amount of materials for players to collect but also the right set of villagers. In New Horizons, players have more control over who lives on the island, and this decision should not be taken lightly.

It is worth pointing out that Animal Crossing: New Horizons has over 400 recruitable villagers, but players can only choose 10 to live on the island at any given time. Of course, at the beginning of the game, it is tempting to just invite any potential character to live on the island just for the sake of filling up the village. Of course, choosing villagers all comes down to the personal preferences of players. But it is worth knowing that not all characters in Animal Crossing: New Horizons are easy to live with, so to make it easy, here are the five villagers that should be kicked off the island.

Eloise

eloise

Eloise is one of the OG villagers from the first Animal Crossing game on Game Cube. Although Eloise looks cute and innocent, she actually has a terrible attitude that will surely set some player's teeth on edge. Eloise is known for having a snooty attitude and will often criticize players and other villagers. Some Animal Crossing: New Horizons players reported having kicked off Eloise from their islands after they received some snooty complaints from the character about the island not being elegant enough for her. But of course, players who like the drama may want to keep her because she will most definitely try to stir things up the moment she arrives

Rodney

rodney

For quite some time now, Rodney has become one of the least popular Animal Crossing characters in the entire franchise. Oftentimes, Rodney is described as being arrogant and smug, and his appearance doesn't really help his popularity with players. Interestingly enough, Animal Crossing fans have since created an entire subreddit (r/f**krodney) that is dedicated to venting out their dislike of Rodney.

Pietro

The fear of clowns is a real thing, and Animal Crossing's Pietro, who is some sort of a mix between a sheep and a clown, makes it even more terrifying. Although there is really nothing wrong with him personality-wise, his overall appearance, while colorful, will surely make some players feel uncomfortable. Sure, he may appear happy, and his getup will probably make sense in a theme park. But seeing him every day on the island, especially around the woods at night is something that is only seen in horror movies.

Coco

Talking about terrifying villagers that should be kicked off the island immediately, no one else is probably creepier than Coco. It is unclear what she actually is but her appearance resembles that of a gyroid. Who wouldn't feel uneasy staring at empty holes where her eyes and mouth should be? And it also doesn't help that it appears that her head is completely hollow.

Barold

Apart from his unappealing design, Barold is definitely one of the creepiest villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Upon visiting his home, players would see that his dwelling is surrounded by tons of security monitors, and it is actually unclear what he is looking at. Could he have placed hidden cameras all around the village and maybe inside other people's homes? Well, no one can know for sure but mix that with his weird beard and he's better off looking for another island to stay in.

Luckily for fans, there are many ways to kick out villagers on the island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. First, there is the classic way of ignoring them completely and making the feel isolated, prompting them to leave the island on their own. Players can also head up to the upgraded Residential Services building and talk to Isabelle. If a certain villager gets enough complaints from the player, they will also decide to leave the island on their own.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out now exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
