Today was a big Animal Crossing day. The Nintendo Direct revealed the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Happy Home Paradise paid DLC, among other big exciting announcements. One of the reveals that could have slipped by for many fans is the fact that more Amiibo cards are on the way, something that many have been hoping for.

Amiibo Cards are a unique but special version of Amiibo that have a big fan following. While different from the standard figure version of Amiibo, the cards still can be scanned and used within certain Animal Crossing titles. There has been a scarcity of Amiibo Cards in the past, but they are back, and now the Series 5 pack for Animal Crossing will soon be ready.

Today, the official Animal Crossing Twitter account revealed the next Animal Crossing Amiibo Cards. They will be ready on November 5, 2021. This series includes Villagers that were not available in the past, as well as brand new characters. Tom Nook is a part of Series 5, as is Raymond, Rio, Zoe, Dom, and Sasha.

Many fans have been waiting for more Amiibo Animal Crossing Villagers, as the games' connections with the cards themselves can be creative. With any Amiibo, whether it be the standard figure or the card, for some it is about the interaction with the game and for others it is simply about collecting the item itself. With that in mind, the Series 5 Amiibo Cards for Animal Crossing is exciting in a plethora of ways.

Outside of the Amiibo, today's Animal Crossing news was vast. The Nintendo Direct highlighted the new paid downloadable content and the free 2.0 update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons that will be the last. Fans can look forward to the return of Tortimer, massive changes to Harv's island, Kapp'n's Boat Tours, new NPCs, NookPhone Upgrades, general improvements, and more. The game that is now the second-highest selling game on the Switch--and one of the best selling games in a one-year stretch ever--will soon have much more to do.

Meanwhile, the Animal Crossing Nintendo Direct also highlighted information about the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack, including the fact that players can get the DLC "for free" with the subscription. The Expansion Pack will include N64 and SEGA Genesis titles and will cost $49.99 per year, but it could also be including other DLCs in the future, not just Animal Crossing: New Horizons Happy Home Paradise.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available for Nintendo Switch.
