Villagers remain part of the core experience in Animal Crossing installments, especially in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. In this NintendoSwitch title, players can find up to 391 different villagers (as of writing), all of which they can convince to live on their island. Moreover, these villagers all have different personalities, making each island composition unique. Thankfully, it seems the game has a type of villager for almost any type of player. For instance, fitness buffs would love New Horizons' assortment of Jock-type villagers.

As the name implies, Jock-type villagers have a deep love for sports and fitness. Moreover, this love explains why a lot of Jock villagers end up working out almost anywhere on an island. However, Jock-types also remain the most prominent in New Horizons, with 81 currently existing. Aside from lovable penguin Roald, who else are the best Jock-types in New Horizons?

10 Roald

Roald - Animal Crossing New Horizons Best Jock Villagers

Fans fondly remember Roald thanks to his big round eyes that seem to stare off into space - something that makes everything he does extra cute and dumb at the same time. Unlike other Jock villagers, Roald has this competitive yet cheerful vibe that will make anyone want to root for him. This navy blue penguin wobbles around the village, occasionally fishing and lifting weights.

Roald appeared in all Animal Crossing titles since Animal Forest, the first in the franchise. It seems Roald's "B-b-buddy" initial catchphrase references the stutter people do when exposed to cold. Moreover, some speculate Roald may have been named after Roald Amundsen, the first person ever to reach Antarctica. In previous games, Roald's home is littered with kids' toys. However, his home in New Horizons comprises of ice and ice-themed furniture - a homage to his species.

9 Coach

Coach - Animal Crossing New Horizons Best Jock Villagers

Jock villagers pride themselves in their respective fitness pursuits - but only Coach could proudly declare that "gym is life." This Jock bull villager often says "stubble," a likely reference to his facial hair. Unlike other villagers, Coach the yellow Bull has this aggressively-enthusiastic look all fitness coaches have in real life.

And despite only making his first appearance in New Leaf, Coach set himself apart with his gym-themed house. In fact, his home carries this theme in New Horizons. As such, Coach's house has a short running field, a basketball ring, a water container, and even some kettlebells.

8 Jitters

Jitters - Animal Crossing New Horizons Best Jock Villagers

Fans recognize Jitters easily thanks to his appearance, as the bird villager's green-blue-yellow color scheme seem to be inspired by the Brazilian flag. Moreover, Jitters seem to take heavy inspiration from Brazilian culture, as his usual attire consists of a soccer tee with Brazil-inspired colors. Interestingly enough, his "Bzzert" catchphrase and name seems to pertain to "coffee jitters" - or that jittery feeling after drinking coffee.

At first glance, Jitters seems to zone out a lot thanks to his small pupils and rather predominant eyebrows. However, curious players might realize this "jittery" appearance may be caused by his dedication to his craft. His house in New Leaf takes a lot of inspiration from backyards - complete with benches, oil drums, and a barbecue. In New Horizons, Jitters fully absorbs the soccer theme - with a crowded arena as his wallpaper and a soccer goal taking the center of his room.

7 Stinky

Stinky - Animal Crossing New Horizons Best Jock Villagers

Players shouldn't mess with Stinky the cat, as his "GAHHHH" catchphrase makes his sheer strength known. Stinky becomes one of the villagers people just know is a Jock, thanks to his red-blue wrestling mask. He has jolly closed eyes and a wonderful smile that overshadows his love for hand-to-hand combat.

Thankfully, Stinky makes this love known with his home as early as Animal Forest. In fact, his home always has a wrestling ring alongside various accessories. In fact, he never misses the chance to decorate his home with wallpaper in the form of an audience, which can easily be motivational for the fitness enthusiast.

6 Scoot

Scoot - Animal Crossing New Horizons Best Jock Villagers

Fans will remember Scoot for the underwear on his forehead. Except, it's not underwear! Curious players who wait for Scoot to roam around the village would realize that the green duck is actually wearing a white swimming cap! Scoot doesn't make his interest in swimming apparent, especially since his "Zip zoom" catchphrase references speeding vehicles (scooters?) more than swimming.

Interestingly, Scoot's interest with water seems evident as early as his first appearance in Animal Forestas his home houses various fishes. In New Leaf, his home has an indoor swimming theme - complete with a weighing scale and bathroom mirrors. However, in New Horizons, Scoot has a cute backyard theme with a portable toilet and even a small inflatable pool.

5 Tank

Tank - Animal Crossing New Horizons Best Jock Villagers

Despite Tank's size and nature as a Jock, he does sport a friendly heart and quite the sense of humor. Tank is a light-blue rhino that's more known for his red "No.1" shirt. And his confidence wearing the shirt reflects his Jock personality. In fact, his, "KerPOW" catchphrase reflects his usual motivated self.

However, what makes him special isn't what he shows to villagers. Rather, it's what he hides from them. Players who go to Tank's house since his Animal Forest appearance would admire the Zen atmosphere. His house interior always had grassy floors, various bonsai, and even a small pound.

4 Rod

Rod - Animal Crossing New Horizons Best Jock Villagers

Fitness isn't about size, it's about gains! Rod the purple mouse seems more like a sailor than a Jock, but he beams with pride whenever he talks sports. His "Ace" catchphrase pertains to his pursuit of perfection, something fans would consider cute due to his size. Rod first appeared in Animal Forest e+, the Japan-only follow-up to Animal Forest.

Interestingly, Rod doesn't have a predominantly "Jock-like" home. Rather, the purple mouse has a sailor-inspired home interior. Most of his interior designs are modeled after the interior of a cruise ship or a top deck of a cruise ship, complete with a sea view. In New Horizons, Rod's house has a top deck motif, complete with a pool table, a karaoke machine, and even a small pool!

3 Kevin

Kevin - Animal Crossing New Horizons Best Jock Villagers

Of all villagers, Kevin has that gangsta feel, which makes him quite popular for players looking for eccentric villagers. Kevin is an orange pig villager recognizable for his black school jacket over a red shirt. His signature "Weeweewee" catchphrase may be a reference to "This Litte Piggy" nursery rhyme, while his name may be a reference to Kevin Bacon.

Players easily recognize Kevin's home thanks to its street motif, especially in his first appearance in New Leaf. His home even has a phone box, a road sign, and even sidewalks. Interestingly, his house in New Horizons now resembles a boxing gym, complete with a small boxing ring, a bench press, and a punching bag. If bullies bother the player, Kevin's the guy to call.

2 Jay

Jay - Animal Crossing New Horizons Best Jock Villagers

Players would easily recognize Jay thanks to the bird's blue fur and red forehead stripe, making him more of a lesser-striped swallow. His "Heeeeeyy" catchphrase makes him come off as quite a chill bird, but he's actually quite sophisticated.

As one of the "OG" villagers from Animal Forest, Jay's house carried a classical theme that fans would want to earn bells to buy. He always had classical carpets and ornate wallpapers, as well as musical instruments. Jay reverses this trend in the recent game, though. In New Horizons, Jay has a predominantly-wooden home, complete with a trunk-based table, saws and paints, and even a hay for a bed.

1 Ribbot

Ribbot - Animal Crossing New Horizons Best Jock Villagers

Mysterious villagers in Animal Crossing aren't always animals - sometimes, they can be robots! Ribbot is such an example, as he's a frog that looks like a robot, or perhaps the other way around. Fans easily recognize Ribbot for his robotic appearance - gray skin with bolted lines and headlights that resemble eyes. He also has a "59" on the back of his head, implying he's the 59th of a series. Even his catchphrase, "Zzrrbbitt" implies he's a frog ribbiting with a robotic accent.

Interestingly, Ribbot shares a predominantly space-inspired house, like with Octavian the octopus. However, his house in New Leaf resembles more of a tech lab. Perhaps more surprising is Ribbot's home in New Horizons, now resembling more of a private study with a tech tool shed.
