One of the biggest selling points for Nintendo's recently released life simulation game Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the ability for players to terraform their islands and place outdoor decorations. Some creative types have leveraged that unprecedented level of freedom to recreate famous gaming locales like The Legend of Zelda's Hyrule, and now Pokemon has gotten the same treatment.

A Spanish Youtuber and Twitch streamer who goes by LinkMigue on Twitter uploaded a video Monday showcasing a segment of their town that has been retrofitted to look like Pallet Town from the original Pokemon. Being the original starting area Red, Blue, and others, only three Animal Crossing: New Horizons player houses were needed to recreate Pallet Town's buildings: The homes of protagonist Red and rival Blue, as well as Professor Oak's lab.

Taking things a step further, LinkMigue also created an outfit resembling the original red-and-white clothing worn by Red in the original games' remakes Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen, and even more details were added through custom objects like grayish town signs. Red has become an iconic, recurring trainer in the Pokemon franchise, and DeNA made a big deal about his inclusion into the mobile game Pokemon Masters last month.

The vast amount of customization options available in Animal Crossing: New Horizons has led to a near-cottage industry of players recreating everything from video game locations to scenes from movies like Midsommer within the game. Recently one fan also recreated the characters from Netflix's Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness.

While self-driven customization is a major selling point for the new Nintendo Switch game, there are also plenty of big challenges built into the experience to keep players occupied. Major building goals like a DIY Robot Hero will undoubtedly keep fans of the series occupied for weeks, if not months, to come.

So, too, will in-game events that Nintendo is implementing throughout the game's life. Currently players get to take part in Bunny Day, a holiday inspired by Easter that includes an island-wide egg hunt alongside new seasonal wildlife for the month of April. There will always be players like LinkMigue creating some impressive things to see in the meantime.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
