An Animal Crossing: New Horizons player and fan of The Office recreated one of the beloved sitcom’s most iconic scenes in the game. New Horizons gives players everything they need to build elaborate homes for themselves that some players use to build entire rooms built around themes. Some are simple, like a kitchen, because every home needs one, while others are a little more imaginative, like an indoor basketball arena.
Other players like to make their favorite movies and TV shows come to life on their islands, like how one New Horizons player meticulously recreated Bikini Bottom from SpongeBob SquarePants, right down to an impressively accurate recreation of the Krusty Krab’s kitchen. New Horizons makes this possible by offering players a wide and diverse set of decor that allows them to let their imaginations run wild.
A New Horizons player who goes by badmotorginger posted a series of pictures in the Animal Crossing subreddit showing off their New Horizons recreation of an iconic scene from The Office. Specifically, the ninth episode of the third season, titled “The Convict.” In it, Michael Scott does his best impression of the famous Scared Straight TV series, where juvenile delinquents are subjected to intense screaming and stories of misery from real-life prisoners to get them back on the right track so they can avoid a future of incarceration. To begin the presentation, Michael dons a purple bandana, thus completing his transformation into the man fans have come to call “Prison Mike.”
Badmotorginger explains in the post’s title that Axel, a blue elephant villager who is really into fitness, gifted them a paisley bandanna that looked an awful lot like the one Michael Scott wore in “The Convict.” Good thing, too, since badmotorginger was already in the middle of construction on their recreation of the conference room from the set of The Office. Several villagers fill the room's seats looking appropriately miserable as they have to struggle through another one of Michael’s “inspirational” talks.
Other members of the Animal Crossing subreddit seem to love badmotorginger's faithful and hilarious recreation of one of the best moments from one of the funniest sitcoms ever made. Tons of New Horizons players have honored one of their favorite shows by recreating their favorite moments, building recreations of the set, or filming their own versions of The Office’s opening title sequence in-game. It just goes to show that if gamers are given the power to make anything they want in a game, it's only a matter of time before The Office pops up in some shape or form.
